For a brand as comparision, Common Projects which are unbridled in their choice of materials and choosing to make their shoesi in Italy, is there really a significant difference in quality? Is it more about one having very good quality and the other deluxe?
I can't comment on CPs, but I've APC Derbies and they are not worth full price, if you can get them at 50% off like I did, they are a decent buy. I can compare them to my much more expensive C&J and the upper leather quality just isn't there, it's very soft and thin. The leather creases badly, and even with shoe trees some of the bigger ones are not getting any better. And normally I like small creases to give the shoe some character.
The thing that I like about them is the thick leather sole, it looks like it will take a lot of wear before it needs replacing. But I'm not sure how long the upper will last.
