Master-Classter, I'd say go with the 26 if you can bear waiting a bit until the waist stretches. I wear the same size as you in Slim Jims and I went to a 26 in NS without a problem of them being too tight in the long run. My 2 cents. Hope that helps a little!

Cool, thanks for the input guys. I'm 5'6 125 lbs if that helps explain... still, it just seemed almost insanely small as a size number (26!). PS - my understanding is that this problem of diaper butt with skinny calves is pretty characteristic of New Cures... is that true? Is this "antifit"?

I went to the APC store in NYC bent on buying New Cures. My waist size is 31, but the sales woman recommended I size down to 30, which I tried on different models, but unfortunately was not available for the New Cure. She then suggested that I try on the women's New Cure, and that I size down as much as possible, and much to my surprise I ended up buying a women's 28 I could barely button them at first, but after wearing them for 4 days they have definitely stretched out a lot and fit like men's 31. A couple of questions for APC veterans: Are there any differences between the men's and women's New Cure aside from waist size availability? The fit seems pretty unisex to me, and the picture in the APC website is exactly the same for both. Does the cardboard-like stiffness go away with wear, or are they meant to stay that way?

Not really. It sounds like you just have no ass. Not an uncommon problem.

It's just sizes. I believe the women's sizes have one less button on the fly (3 instead of 4) due to the lower rise, but the fit is the same.

I'm guessing these are your first pair of raw denim? To answer your question, yes, they start out stiff and soften with wear.

Skinny calves yes. Anti-fit is a bit of a slouchy, sagged look- if it resembles a diaper though...... thats a good indication you have no ass.

Question about sizing down When you guys say to size down do oyu just mean just because of the vanity sizing or to size down from when you achieve the proper size ie: If I wear 28 waisted pants normally do I get the APC 26 because thats equivelant to the 28 or to get a 24 because its a real size 26 which is a size down from a real 28

^ Both. You need to size down to account for both vanity sizing and stretch. If you have a measured 28" waist, you could wear size 24, 25, or 26, depending on the fit you prefer.

My 29 NC has 4 buttons (3+ top).

APC is notoriously starched, it was literary a piece of cardboard when I first got it.

Remember this rule is for NS only. Sizing down 3 on NC would be instant death.

looking to try one of thes new standards on tomorrow. i wear a levis 514 30x30 that fits pretty well but could use a slight taper in the leg, so a ns that accounts for vanity sizing as well as stretching would be a 26 right?
