Also, the instructions said the "extremist" method was to not soak or wash them like most raws. Are they sanforized and should I soak them? Lastly, I read on reddit APCs have problems with crotch blowouts, is this common? Thanks.

Yes they're sanforized. I've had a pair for 2 years before the crotch gave out. Never went on reddit, but they might be sizing down too much which might be the cause. APCs are pretty durable. Soaking is up to you, personally I wouldn't, but it won't make that much of a difference.

- don't go by waist go by how they fit in the thighs

- there seems to be a lot of misconception over the new standards - they are indeed tapered, not straight throughout like a lot of people seem to think

- slimmer/skinnier than the ns are the ps, pns, and new cures

- they're sanforized yes

Can you elaborate on thigh fit?

Looks fine to me.  You could go a size down if you can button up. You bought skinny jeans, rock 'em

I'm getting ready to retire my PS (pics forthcoming). Do they still do the trade-in program at APC stores?

Also, I'm hoping to get the Kanye collab jeans in stonewashed. It might be nice to go for a lighter look with my jeans. I wear a 32 in PS, so I'm guessing a 32 or 33 would be good in the stonewashed. If anyone has a pair available or sizing input, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Selvedge noob here.

After months of looking, I just ordered my first pair of APC from Mr Porter—Petit Standard in a 31. Apparently I should "take my normal size", which I based on a pair of AG Matchbox I tried on yesterday. Here's hoping that works out.

Purchasing sight-unseen is always a touch nerve-wracking.

Hi everyone,

So I was trying New Standard size 28 and it fits well, except that I can button the top button easily. The employee says I shouldn't be able to button the top button easily so she suggests I get size 27. When I try it it's tight as hell in the thigh and I'm afraid the thigh area won't stretch too far. Now what's the best choice for me I wonder? Thanks.

28 for sure

thighs won't stretch that much

I'm fairly certain the sizing on context is wrong, my 31 NS definitely have more than a 32" waist, I'm guessing 33 or 33.5. Also they're a lot skinner than the pictures make them look. Very satisfied with the fit nonetheless.

haven't we gone over this like a million times. Most pants are vanity sized, meaning they're 2 inches smaller than the tagged size. I have a 30 inch waist and buy '28' pants. They measure 15' across. That's for my wool pants. For jeans I buy a 27 because they'll stretch in the waist about an inch (maybe a 26 for ball crunching goodness). There are some rare exceptions like my Nudies (grim tim / slim jim) where I buy them in 28 becuase they're a pretty tight cut and they don't stretch all that much.

i think accordion was saying that, even accounting for vanity sizing, context charts are still wrong

will I end up having a loose waist area? because the shopkeeper insisted that I should only be able to button the first (lowest )button.

anyways, I love the look of the jeans so far. the fit is perfect, which was why I chose APC in the first place after seeing some fit pics. I don't know what it is but I tried other brands like 3sixteen, naked famous, unbranded, and they just look unsatisfactory on me. and NS is the only type I know that offer smaller sizes with a 10 inches rise.

regarding the stretches on the thighs and below, will they be noticeable? because this fit is just perfect and I can't imagine if it changes even by a centimeter.

you can't go by just how the waist fits since it'll stretch enough to accommodate (assuming it's not suuuuper tight)

thighs and calves will stretch to an extent, too, but not as much as the waist

if they're painted on for example they're not gonna loosen up drastically enough to where it'd mold to a perfect fit (unless you're going for the tight look to begin with)

since idk what your idea of a "perfect fit" is and you didn't post any pics it's hard to say whether you should size down or not, but the thighs and calves will only stretch as much as your legs give them resistance

as for your concerns over the waist, you can prevent them from over stretching by wearing a belt

That sounds absurd, frankly. I was able to button them all the way up when I purchased mine, though it was quite tight, and I'm quite happy with how they fit now, even though they have stretched out a bit.

Yes, thus far only Blueowl charts have been accurate to my knowledge, but they don't carry APCs.
