A.P.C. The official thread for APC questions. - Page 820

I think my tailor did that but ended up with the wider selvedge hem. Maybe I just have a shitty tailor, but she's an old lady in Chinatown who gets hemming and tapering for $6/e so I don't complain.

Has anyone had better results?

Has someone any experience with their (APC) jackets and outerwear? How is the quality? Which other brand's quality would you compare it with?

I have a couple, including a bomber jacket that I've had for years and has traveled everywhere with me. I'm actually surprised it's still in one piece. Their jackets and outerwear are decent, but I would never (and have never) pay full retail - only worth getting things on deep discount IMO.

Thanks, that was what I was afraid of.

I too have experience with their outerwear. It's very, very well constructed and has lasted for seasons on end in my case. I too find it usually at a discount either end of season at the store itself or at Barney's. Either way, I'd back their jackets, coats and parkas wholly.

I've collected quite a few APC items over the years and, if it's a comparison you're looking for, I would put them up there with but perhaps not quite alongside Our Legacy in terms of construction and quality, that sort of bracket. Probably above Norse Projects though. Whatever my opinion on comparisons is, their outerwear is genuinely well made stuff.

I once read an interview with the APC head design guy (sorry, can't be bothered to look it up!) and he said APC's vision was "in the 80s looking back at the 50s". I know a few people who do think APC are very eighties, so he must be getting his vision right. They've changed a bit in recent years but still come up with some minimalist belters.

I think the answer is YES, but found a pair of NS on ebay for a good price. I wear a 32 in most Levis (514, 511, 513). Tagged 30 ought to fit?

Thinking about buying a pair of their Back Zip Boots.

I bought these during the summer (http://streething.com/news/7691/a-p-c-crepe-sole-leather-boots/) and they are pretty good. Comfortable, good quality leather and TTS. I got them 50% off on sale for about $240 and it originally retailed around $500. I would say like other APC products, wait for sale and for $500 you have a lot of other options.

most tailors don't want to tailor from the inseam and just want to do the outseam which gives you a wider selvedge. $12 total for the hem/taper that is a great deal

4 tailors within 20 miles of me charge $20-$25 for hem and tapering no matter how much hemmed/tapered.

I think you are right. She did mention about charging a lot more because of the hassle to do it from the inseam. Chinatown, man. Old Asian ladies are skilled with the sewing machines and they practically do it for passing time. Sometimes she gives me a $2 discount off tapering if I get pants hemmed and she only tapers in about half an inch.

I have a couple of their boots. I got the caramel chelsea boots from a couple of seasons ago, which are OK, but nothing special. They seem to have a cemented construction. I also got the black Montantes boots from last F/W and they are great. Both leather quality and construction seem good. The black back zip boots from this season look similar in regard to leather and sole, so if they are made similar to the shoes from last F/W they are good shoes.

While I'm at it I can also vouch for their outerwear. Their shirts and T-shirts on the other hand, I am not impressed by and they also shrink alot.

How about APC shirts and sweaters? I'm liking the red oxford and some of the sweaters. I understand these goes on sale frequently so I will likely wait for one of those.
