Okay so I have a problem. My thighs are big but my calves aren't up to par. Should I get the new standards or the petit new standards? I wanna get a good taper but I don't want my thighs to suffocate. Which do you guys recommend?

I have same issue as you do. What worked for me was just getting a pair of NS and then have it tailored tapered.

How long do you guys wait? After the first wash? I'm planning to get mine tapered and waist taken in a bit, probably going to wait 4-6 months first though.

Petit New Standard. I have huge thighs and it fits. Tightest part is actually my calves right below the knee. If i'm sitting down I cant pull my jeans off cause my calves lock up the knee area of the jeans too tightly. Then I have to straighten my legs and carefully pull the jeans off from the very bottom (at the cuffs) -- as opposed to pushing them off from my waistband. Kind of annoying, but the fit looks nice.

Could you provide thigh measurements please? I find this hard to believe.

24.75 inches at the biggest part. Not sure if that's huge by your standards but they are big given my proportions. Jeans are size 34 by the way.

Does the waist fit you appropriately or is that sized up? I do believe a size 34 could accommodate your thighs though smile.gif

See I don't think I got them to get up on my waist when I tried them on. Ended up buying a much larger pair so I need to go back.

yeah the fit is pretty satisfying. If I were to change anything i'd add a half inch in the waist and just below the knee, take away a half inch at the leg opening.

Can anyone vouch for the quality and fit of the APC Madras Bomber??     http://images.urbanoutfitters.com/is/image/UrbanOutfitters/24148280_014_b

In response to ALCIBIADES regarding sporadic wear, I have a pair of New Standards I bought in 2009 that I mostly wear during winter months here in Florida. More than 4 years later and after only one wash, there is very little fading (slight whiskers but no honeycombs).

Ya, I think first wash works. I find that wearing it in after a couple weeks so you get comfortable with the fit and a bit of stretching, then go get it tapered. Just note that tapering will affect the selvedge hem. Either the hem is going to get covered up or you are going to get a really wide selvedge hem.

Can't they just taper it from the inseam instead of outseam to preserve the selvedge?
