Unless you've got really skinny legs ( which doesn't seem so from your measurements) the ps and new cure in 28 is gonna be painted on.. Wouldn't recommend

Anyone know why my Petit Standard simply refuse to fade? Around six months old, one cold soak (which did not affect the nature of the denim that much - maybe they came out a bit less cardboardy), worn on average for about four days per week. I see some photos of APCs and other selvedge jeans that claim similar wear but look massively different in terms of fade. Mine look brand new. It's not the fit - there's no bagginess or, to go the other way, a "painted on" effect. They don't even look close to fading. Do they just "turn" after a certain period of time? Any ideas? I still like them BTW.

photos of your actual pair and maybe a fit pic would help.

Cheers - I'll try to put one up if I get time. I should mention that the cold soak was very recent - they had many months of unwashed wear.

@reploid Have you considered the PNS? Those may actually work the best for you

Good suggestion but I tried on a pair of PNS when I got the PS (I'm lucky to have End Clothing pretty near) but they were absolutely painted on from the top of the legs down, and very narrow at the ankle. The reminded me of when I tried on the New Cure once. Even with the APC stretch I doubted they'd end up looking correct - they looked like jeggings. PS are definitely the right fit for me on the leg - this is my second pair (the first had to be thrown away - I machine washed them by mistake and it all went wrong). I appreciate there's no photo but the PS fit is good - they just don't fade. (The cold soak shrank them by about an inch on the leg and maybe half on the waist. They'll stretch back.)

Are you doing anything active in them or just sitting around all day? Take long walks/hikes in them, go bike riding in them, etc if you want them to fade faster.

Well if you're comparing them to pics with six months worth of wear it would be a little unfair since you only wear them four times a week. Assuming they wear them everyday (and many people do), that adds to be 72 days of less wear. You are at ~96 which is just over three months. Give it another 90 days and it might look more similar.

Sometimes there is a period of time where the jeans fade faster from my experience. I have a pair of black Acnes now and they started to fade noticeably faster after I gave it a soak at the 1 year mark. Month after month I can see differences now. Keep in mind they are black so fading should take longer to notice.

Anyone have fade pics of APCs that are worn sparingly - say one or two times a week for a year? That's how much I am wearing mine currently...

Yes I have, but I consider the rise to be an issue, I want a lower rise like the PS has, or the NC...I ended up getting size 28 PS, and while I wait I tried on a size 28 skinny from a store over here and they fit just fine with a bit of spare, and while they do have a bit of spandex on them the measures are the same from the measured pair of PS that the store I bought from gave me, so I'll find out soon and post pics once I get them. Thanks for your answer nonetheless!

Thanks for the responses on my slow-to-fade PS. Makes sense. I think it probably is just the type of activity and the fact that wearing them four days a week isn't enough.

they won't fade much.... I've had a pair worn like that (sparingly) and only have the slightest fades. If you really want to fade them you gotta get on it!

I wear suits 4 days a week, so unless I change into denim in the evening, I am not wearing denim M-Thurs. Even then, I am in denim only a few hours.

Friday night-Sunday, I am either wearing denim or raw chinos. I had two pair of raw denim I was working on, but one pair (3sixteen) are getting a bit big so I am focusing on the APC. But that is still only 2-3 days of wear.

I am about the same size. 5-9 1/2" and just under 160 pounds (though my normal waist is 30"). I just picked up a pair of the Petit Standards 28 this past weekend and they fit perfectly. Just a heads up - the Petit New Standards in 28 were a bit too tapered for me. The leg opening was so small that I actually ripped part of the seam on the cuff when trying to remove them! Luckily the folks at the APC store were very gracious and didn't charge me for the damage.

Let us know how that works out.
