I got a pair of PS just after Thanksgiving.  I knew that APCs aren't the highest quality jeans but I had no idea how bad it really was, already there is a back pocket hole, crotch blowout, the seams on both selvedge side of both knees have separated and the stitching above the back pockets are falling apart at an alarming rate.

I would sew it all up but I honestly don't know if I can keep up with all the repairs.  I really can't afford a new pair right now, and it's way too late to return them.  I'm so fucking done with this brand.  I'm getting Iron Hearts next time.

sounds like you got a defect or something, I've never had a torn seam or anything on the 3 pairs i've owned. One crotch blow out on a 5 year old pair of jeans, which is understandable given how much they were worn.

I'd try emailing APC about it, maybe they'll give you a new pair.

^this. Also can't get behind some of the details ih has going with their jeans. Apparently bullet proof tho.

Just emailed them, really hoping they do something about it, APC makes the best fitting/fading jeans imo and I really do not want to take my business elsewhere.

I agree with everyone else. I've worn my apcs everywhere for more than two years and had a motorcycle accident in them... No problems man

I have searched and read tons of posts/threads about A.P.C. sizing and I am thoroughly confused. I am 5'8, 165 lb, and I have a 33" true waist. Where I actually wear most of jeans measures 35" and at the widest part of my hips is 39". I went to Nordstrom and bought two pairs of 31 sized New Standards. The first fits ridiculously snug and while I can button all 4 buttons, it looks like Betty Crocker turned me into a human sized muffin. Even with only two buttons done up the fit was so tight in the hips that it irritated my right IT band. Felt like I ran a marathon after taking them off. The second pair of 31 NS's fits almost perfect. I can get them on no problem, all 4 buttons done right up, although there is a lot of discomfort when sitting. Only thing that I can figure separating the two is that this second pair was a return. They are obviously stretched in the hips and the price tag isn't an APC tag, just a plain Nordstrom one.

What do all of you APC owners think? Size up to a 32 NS which makes it a reduction of 2" (35" where worn, 32 size plus 1" increase due to vanity sizing), stick with the pre-stretched returned pair of 31s, or the 31s that feel like an iron maiden? I guess it is worth noting that I am a huge fan of Lucky Legend 121 heritage jeans and was looking for a similar fit. Maybe with just a bit more room.

imo, go for the smallest possible size that you can button all the way up.  they will stretch.  they will become softer.  no doubt on that.

If it were me I'd go with the second pair you tried on.

just make sure your thighs fit comfortably, because they won't stretch much

Not sure I agree with this. Waist and thighs will stretch quite a bit, also according to others who have worn APC's

waist sure, but thighs not really. best case, you'll get an extra inch.

Both pairs actually accomodate my thigh pretty well. They only measure about 21-22" at the thickest section. When I sit there is a bit of squeezing but I'm sure an extra inch will be more than enough.

I was thinking the same thing Hill, but I'm caught between the "blessing" that someone else stretched out the jeans at their worst (tightest) and that someone stretched them out (someone has been in my pants ;-)).

I hear you. Are there signs of stretch in the waistband? Are whiskers or honeycombs starting to form?

The hips and waist definitely show stretching. Actually the waistband only has a little bit more to go and then it would be perfect for me. As for honeycombs and whiskers there wasn't anything that I saw. I wonder if a presoak in cold water and wearing them until dry would help the tighter 31s to get going?
