Buttoning was difficult initially, but I'm not sure if that's more because of the stiff denim. After twenty minutes or so it wasn't difficult to button anymore. Just had to suck in my gut a bit.
Where the jeans sit I measure about 32.5". I had initially measured where my 514s sat, which was a bit lower at 33". My questions is, will the NS 30 stretch to be too big? They measure 31 right now when flat. I'm going for a slim fit similar to the 514s, not skinny. I hear about some people recommending you get the size where you can barely button the top one up, but maybe that's for a skinnier fit? I'll put up pics later if it helps.
Also, I'm usually a 31ish inseam. Do people generally cuff or hem their NS? Stacking looked a bit off.
Lastly, am I correct that I don't need to presoak because the jeans are sanforized, meaning my fades will be at the correct places? Thanks guys.

they are sanforized so you don't need to soak them.  also, stacking on the NS usually looks off because there is so much fabric below the knee.

I included some fit pics. I've worn them for two hours tops. There's a little resistance when I climb up stairs and the thighs are a bit too slim. Waist isn't uncomfortable either ( a little tight when I sit, but that's it). Should I size down one more to a 29?

I also included a picture with stacking and with a double cuff. Will the stacks settle better with time, or is the inseam still too long for that? If I"m not wearing boots, I'd probably be wearing chucks. Thanks guys.

Don't do this since thighs are already tight.

I'm in the same situation as you where I only sized down one (from 30 to 29) but I don't find it too bad. If you find it too long, you can always go get it hemmed. I'm thinking about doing that with mine in the next two weeks as I find the thigh was already pretty snug.

Can you tell me what parts are too loose such that I'd need to size down? If I did, would the fit be similar to what I have currently after stretching?

Do they look tight in the picture? I've seen some initial fits where the thighs look painted on or the seam is stretched. I assume I'd only want that if I was going for a skinny fit? How much do thighs usually stretch?

How do you find the fit now? Have the thighs and waist stretched a lot? I plan on wearing a belt with my jeans if that matters.

This is my first pair of raw denim, so I'm just trying to get as much information and feedback as I can.

They look fine but you said there's resistance when climbing stairs. Thigh doesn't stretch out as much as waist so if you were to size down you'd never really be able to comfortably go up stairs lol. But hopefully these will loosen up enough to be comfortable.

Fit is obviously subjective, so I was going mostly off my experience where the initial fit was quite tight, much more than what I can see in your pics, especially the one of the back. My PS are now quite comfy, though like others have said the thighs do not stretch that much. If you feel sizing down will make it uncomfortable in that area, and don't mind a slightly loose fit then by all means keep the pair you have.

I've worn it about 2-3 times a week since I got them in November and it has definitely stretched on the waist but it hasn't loosened to the point of needing a belt. I'm 5'10, 160 lbs and have relatively large thighs from working out so the thighs were pretty snug even when I bought it. The thighs have become a little looser but it's the waist that I noticed the most difference.

Some people may not agree here but you can try giving it a hot soak to keep it a little more snug. From the photos your fit looks similar to mine but not sure about your body shape. I'm probably going to get it hemmed just to avoid all the bunch at the bottom and maybe even have it tapered in a bit too.

Thanks for all the input, guys. I can climb two steps at a time right now, but I guess sizing down might make the thighs too tight. They currently measure 11.5" and my thighs are 22". According to Context a NS 29 has 11" thighs, so they'd probably be painted on on me. It also sounds like the consensus is that the thighs don't stretch much, meaning I should stick with the size where the thighs are what I'm comfortable with now (expecting minimal stretching). Hopefully using a belt would keep the waist from stretching excessively.

BigC222, I looked a few pages back and you said you have the NS 29, could you provide thigh (to compare to Context) and inseam (I read somewhere that it gets shorter when waist is under 30?) measurements along with some current fit pics? It seems we're actually really similar measurements; I'm 5' 11", 160 lb and 22" thighs. There's a hate-love relationship going on with squats.

ohharro,

Here's some fit pictures. Barefoot photos tongue.gif. I took these probably a couple days after buying them as I originally wanted to put them on this thread. The fit actually hasn't changed too much, other than the waist being slightly looser. I could fit into them pretty well even when I first got them. Sorry, I can't provide measurements as I got sent away for work and don't have my APCs with me.

If you want to get rid of the resistance from climbing stairs, start wearing them and doing push ups and sit ups, haha. Like I said before though, I found that the hot soak really helped with keeping the snugness.

Aren't APCs pretty TTS ? As far as I know, the tag size always refers to your real waist size, not the size of the jeans waist.
My true waist (=narrowest part of the torso) is about 28inch and that's exactly the size of PS I'm wearing. Of course the PS waist is much bigger (around 31,6"), but that's because it's meant to sit not on your true waist but around your hips.

I also have a pair of size 27 petit standards in black and they are too tight.

Also, can someone please explain the meaning of the different tags?

All of my APC's look like the second picture.

filcol,

APCs stretch a lot so most people size down. Some online stores say TTS but you're just going to end up with a pair of loose ass jeans. A couple other ones (like TBS) say size down one but the consensus from most members here is to size down 2 from your size for a slim fit.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the labels have changed over time since the brand started and when production of the jeans moved to different countries. Mine are the second picture too.

From what I get people usually say size down 1 or 2 from your regular size. I also normally wear 29 or 30 (Levis). But I couldn't even imagine sizing down 2 from my true waist, that would be a 26. I barely fit in 27 and they are ultra tight. I am wearing my 28 PS for half a year now, they stretched but fit very good and not too loose.
