just bought a new standards 28--it's too small--looking to trade for a 29.

Hey guys,

I just bought my first pair of Petit Standard. I actually bought my true size (31) and they were still very snug—half size smaller and I wont be able to have kids. The sales rep told me to stick to my size because these are cut slimmer.

How much looser will they become? I'm probably just going to wear them on the weekends to go out or once during the work week.

Thanks in advance.

For those who are interested, here is another fit pic of the new petit standards:

I sized down to a 32, I normally take a 34 in highstreet clothing.

hmmm how come I couldn't size down...I'm a 31 and barely fit into it. I gave up trying to get into a 30...lol

All my jeans are size 31...some even 30

These are new petit standards, not petit standards, so the thighs are cut more generously (the calves taper more however).

I'm not sure whether this was ever confirmed, but for a while a lot of people were saying that APC had changed it's sizing and gone TTS, in which case you might have tried on of those pairs.

Pics of the fit?

Will upload tonight, I actually just picked them up today.

Not necessarily true. They just won't fade the same way indigo does, and will take much longer. If you really want black denim that will fade like indigo, Samurai 710BKs and Flat Head 4001BKs might be the only good options. I've barely worn my selvedge black new standards, but I think those might turn out better looking than my raw black new standards:

I think these have about ten months on them, two repairs and several washes.

nineohtoo those fades are dope.^ I gotta question so are those the raw blacks or just the black new standards you posted?

Thanks.

They're the raw ones with a white weft. The black selvedge ones have more of a charcoal weft than black.

I think in the coming weeks I'll purchase a pair of these "Petit New Standards" and sell my old "Petit Standards". I think this is a style that has been needed in the A.P.C. line as on me when I sized down 2 to a 28 on the Petit Standard the jeans were basically plastered on even after a year and larger sizes were too wide on the waist, whereas with the New Standard was a bit too loose for my liking even in the 27. With the new sizing I Imagine I will end up sizing down only 1 to a 29 (will change to a 28 if i feel I need to) in the "Petit New Standard" and will post fit pics when they arrive!

Sizing down 3 seems excessive to me.  Keep in mind I've got pretty muscular legs; new cures sized down one are too small on me.  I find that following a lot of that sufu denimbro-era advice leaves me with jeggings...

Does A.P.C. make different color denims instead of the typical black and indigo? I've yet to see one. OR, do you need to break in them enough time to get a fading color?

I attempted to size down 3 with NS because I liked the PS but they were too tight in the thighs and I hoped to get a little more room in the NS. Needless to say I could barely pull them up to my waist because the thighs were so tight and almost as worse as the PS. I would say try to size down 3 but if you workout regularly or play any sports (like myself) it probably wont work out well.

Yeah, ok that's what I figured, thanks.  Probably order one and two sizes down and see which one fits in the thighs.

Just copped 2 pairs of NS size 27 at cultizm, a denim and a black one, coming from a rescue size 28 which i love. Really like the fit on both of them. They are still vanity sized, at least judging from this batch. The black ones are a bit tighter, had to breathe in to button up the last 2, but totally manageable. The regular denim ones I had trouble with just the top one. My rescues were loose from the get go, so its a nice change, and I like the fit on both so far. Think they will look even better after a while.
