no I hadn't, but thanks for that. I'm basically looking for a replica of the levi's 514 cut, but in better denim. Looks like I have a winner.

This might be a little late (I just joined and haven't finished the thread) - These are my rescues. I normally wear a 34 and I got a 31. These are the day after I got them:

They've stretched out quite a bit after the past few weeks. I might have sized down to a 30 just to keep them a little tighter so I'd get more creases on the back of my leg and on the front.

Anyway, that is how mine look after sizing down that much.

That looks about right for a pre-stretching fit. I think you got the right size.

Im on my first pair of apc's. I really like em. Has anyone really tried the salt water, ocean break in as listed in the instx. This being Summer, i just happen to being going to the beach next month.

On a further note, without reguritating prior posts, will machine washing shrink these jeans. Ill try and hold on a month, but i find them really stiff and im itching to soften them up a bit, but dont want them too tight.

Thanks in advance all

Machine washing will only shrink them bac to tagged size and maybe a half inch to an inch loss in inseam(this can be prevented by tugging on the legs while wet/damp). They will stretch out very quickly though to where they were, quicker than when you first got em'. Don't worry about it, they'll be fine. People have done the ocean wash on superfuture and it looks pretty cool. Not that much different. It's a lot of work to get them actually clean though. Because they'll smell like shit from just the ocean. You still have to wash them in fresh water with soap to get the ocean smell off. It's more a novelty than anything. Something to brag about on the internet

All this talk about APCs made me intrested as well. I haven´t browsed this forum for quite a while but after realising I need a new pair of jeans, I decided take a peek and the price and specs of APCs seem just right. They are also available in Europe which means a great deal to me.

I´m looking for a pair of jeans with normal rise and slight taper. I intend to cuff and wear them with dress shoes. As some of the other members here, I have the issue of having large thighs. I normally wear size 32 or 33 jeans and the jeans I´m just able to fit into, measure 10 3/4" at the mid thigh when laid flat on the floor.

Would I be able to fit into 31 APC New Standars and would those be close to what I´m looking for. I think Get Smart illustrates the fit I´m looking for in many of his pictures in "What are you wearing now" -thread. I think the fit of his Thin Finns and Jeanshops is perfect. Can that look even be achieved with large thighs?

Thanks for your replys

If you're a 32 in other jeans, you should get a 30 in APC New Standard. They stretch a lot, probably too much for people. If you like the fit of thin finns, you might want to think about getting the new cures or cures in 31 or 32. I thought the thinn finns had a really small leg opening, i don't know about the jeanshops though. At least find some other measurements. Good luck.

Just adding to the general chorus:

I just got in the mail the pair of gray NS that mersault was selling. I normally take a 34 or eu 50 in pants & jeans.

Mersault had these tapered in the leg and thigh but the waist was unaltered, I think, and is sized a 32.

Fit is good.

Hope it stays that way?

Thanks for the info. Going down 2 sizes was indeed what I had understood from previous threads (meaning size 30")

This link was posted earlier:

Would you concur with the sizequide presented there? I measured my waist size to be 34,5", but I take 33" modern Levis 501´s. Using that sizeguide, I would have to go for 33" or 34" New Standards! I´m getting confused.

Do you think New Standards are the way to go for a man with large thighs (circumference 23,6") and butt (around hips 39,4")? Would I still be getting into those size 30´s as suggested?

The thighs on the NS aren't skin tight or anything, plus they stretch a lot. If you're really worried, you can get a NS in size 31, but i think a lot of people worry too much about buying jeans. I've seen some big dudes fit into NS before and it's not a huge deal. I think you'll be fine with a size 30. They'll be a bit tighter than you want at first, but within a few days will stretch out and fit you good and then in a 2-3 months they'll probably be a bit too big. I'd personally just get a pair of 30s or if you want just get a pair of 31s, but they won't fit as slim even though they may look slightly better at first. Don't measure your waist size because most everyone screws it up and it just confuses people even more. When people say "true waist" here they're generally referring to what size jeans fit them best(in jeans that are very true to size. I think a 30 would be alright, personally. How tall/much do you weigh? I don't know 100% about context's measurements. I'd say NS measure almost 2 inches more than tagged size. I'm a "true" 32(what i wear in most tts jeans) and i was able to button up easily a pair of 30s, and even button up a pair of 29 NSs without that much trouble and i know they'd stretch.

thanks for a fast and encouraging answer.

I´m 185 cm (6`1", I think)
and weight 84 kg (185 pounds)

I think a 30 would be alright. A lot of people get scared of NSs and just get a size too big which they usually regret a month later. It's not always an exact science with APCs because of the ridiculous stretching. Good luck.
