asdfTT123, I got a pair of size 29 APC new standards two weeks ago. I took some measurements before wearing it and here they are:

frontrise: 10.5"
backrise: 14"
knee: 8.5"
hem: 7.5"
waist: 15.5" (across "aligned," no dip)

The waist has now stretched to about 16.75" with about 80 hours of wear. I like to wear my jeans about 4" below my navel, so I want the jeans to stretch out to about 17.1," so I need it to stretch a little more.

Hi,
I just found this forum and have been browsing and decided to get a pair of New Standards. I usually where a 28 and was hoping to get a 26NS but the smallest I could find at Blackbird in Seattle was a size 27. I am hoping they don't loosen up too much. My real question for all you guys is about the length of these. Typically a 30 length is about right for me as I am 5'10''. I am wondering whats the best option for me. I tried to flip up the ends but don't think I really like how that looks. Is it worth it to get hemmed or should I just let them sit as is on the top of shoes. I guess one other thing is what type of shoes do most of you guys where with these? I am used to having jeans that pretty much cover up the top of my shoes but with these much more of my shoes are showing since the ends are so skinny. Anyway, my name is Scott and I am really enjoying some of the advice here.

Thanks

How long do APC's take to reach their fully streched out point?

I wear 31 in Acne, and I recently picked up a pair of APC NS in size 28. After about 10 wears, they are still a bit tight. Based on what everyone here and the people in the store said, I'm sure they will stretch out enough eventually, I'm just wondering how long that will take.

I don't have any personal experience, but I've seen people say in this thread that it takes about a month.

Thanks you everyone, for your advice. There's no way I can try on APC's, unfortunately, so I ended up ordering a sz 29 New Standard from the APC.fr site. When I was placing my order and entering my personal information, the site did not seem very user friendly and was a bit ambiguous at times...has anyone else ordered from there before? Is it reliable and fast?

Are you in the US? I got mine from denimbar in 2 days. (I didnt get the 'forum special' but they were still only 140$ ) Also, if you are size 34 then 29's might be a tad too small. Ive got 30's that stretched out to about 32-33's so figure 29's will end up 31-32.

Oh yeah and mine stretched out after like 5 minutes and stayed about the same for a month now of everyday wear.

I disagree, this:

...has been more my experience. Both pairs of APCs I've owned have stretched in the first couple days, then more or less stayed there. I think a week or so of decently hard wear--even just a lot of walking--will pretty much tell you how much they're going to stretch.

Maybe it's different if you're one of those guys sizing down 3+ though, I dunno.

I think the amount of stretch has to do with how much stress you put on the waist. I have to push my jeans down about 4" below my navel every now and then or else the NS wants to naturally sit at about just 2.5" below my belly button. I would estimate that my pair of NS will stretch around 3" from 31" to 34."

Actually I'm a sz 32 in almost every jean. I'm hoping that the 29 will eventually stretch out to the point where it's neither tight nor baggy...should it work out for me?

Yes. I think you'll be alright. I'm generally a 31-32 in everything and i was able to button up a pair of 29s with not too much problem. I also tried these on last winter when i was a probably a half size bigger too. But then again, i'm also 6ft and a bit slimmer than most people with a 32 waist.

Oh okay, thanks guys. =) My body type is pretty similar to yours, chronoaug. I'm also 6'-6'1" and I'm a slim size 32 (I wear small in pretty much everything). Do you find NS's to be fitting around the calves? The only reason why I'm asking is because I have relatively large calves in proportion to the rest of my body.

Also, what do people usually do about the long inseams? I wear about 31.5-32" inseam so should I get my APC's hemmed?

Don't get them hemmed. If you're 6-6'1 you're most certainly a true 32inseam but with these, i'd consider letting them stack. The leg opening is slim enough to where it'll look good, especially since you're tall. The calves weren't that tight so i wouldn't worry about it. Get the 29s. I think it'd be the right choice. Post a fit pic of them after you get them for hemming advice. Don't forget that you'll have to push the excess fabric down a bit for the first week until the denim settles down a bit.
