Oh, nice. Yeah, those don't look too big at all...
so i just got in a pair of raw pns in a 27 (tbs sent me a pair with the top button missing, oh noes; second time they've messed up on an order for me frown.gif )

i posted a while earlier about trying on a 26, and while the legs were skinny (the look i was going for), the top block was just way too tight

it felt like i was gonna burst a seam or something, and i couldn't even do the top two buttons

the 27s, however, fit very noticeably looser throughout the entire leg (amazing how much a single size's difference can make)

probably the "perfect" slim apc fit that most people would like, but not skinny enough for my taste

wanted a skinny pair of raw jeans with a higher rise, but i guess i'll go back to my ps in a 26

so, yeah, just to add my own input regarding the ps vs pns debate: in the same size, the pns will fit very noticeably skinnier/tighter than the ps

however, the pns in a size up relative to whatever size in the ps you take will fit looser than the ps

Have you considered the stretch version?  Might be worth seeing what they're like in those two sizes

I know i was looking for a higher rise but these Low Standards are insane.  Tbh, I would buy if they came in sizes below 28 which is too big for me in this model.  The thighs look too loose because the waist is hanging down my backside.  But the leg would be a pretty good slim fit in the right size and sooo nice to have my guys hang freely.  I'd just hesitate if ever I wanted to tuck my shirt in :embar:

Jesus that rise is absolutely nuts.

FWIW, I heard the low standard is more suited for women with a high waisted fit.  Think old Lee's or Wranglers.

I think I can imagine the look they're going for on men.  For more mainstream I think they'd look pretty good with a chunky belt if normal Apc belt loops would allow.  If they're for women though they need to have smaller sizes available than 27/28 as these come up very large on the waist

Is this correct? My worry is they'll be too roomy...

The PS is like my One Jean, and I'm looking for a temporary solution until I can lose about 10 lbs and get back into them. (Going to try one size up in the PNS and hope that works out).

I've written about this before but PS have more room than PNS size-to-size. I confirmed this by trying on a ton of pairs and the SA concurred. In fact I started with PNS and he suggested I try the PS. I would say the PNS have a tad higher rise, but the taper is really aggressive so the thighs/knees felt awful. i can see that they would fit someone with really skinny hips quite well. I tried going tts and the waist was huge. I'd try going up one in PS first -- or how about the 2 percent elastane stretch PS?

APC still haven't made my "one jean," which would be PS cut with a higher rise. I thought the PNS would be that jean but no.

Hope so, but if you can get to an APC store it's best to try on...I don't understand the logic behind the PNS since it seems to be filling a hole in the APC lineup that isn't really there. But I'm sure it fits some people really well.

The rise on the petit standards is comically low and people are sizing down far too much to get a really skinny leg running into all sorts of issues.  The pns has it already done for you so by going closer to your reg size and with a more respectable top block you don't have to go through months of pain. If anything they should just discontinue the petits

PNS is my fit of choice. still not perfect though.

It seems like you have to size down, though, in order for the waist to fit. Further complicating things is the single, hemmable, leg length: it's smallest at the end, so for shorter people, the fit will not be so comically tight.

i know that my pair was missing the top button, but i couldn't discern my tts pns being too big in the waist at all

like i said in my other post, the fit was pretty spot on if you're looking for that coveted apc slim fit

have you tried a pair of tts pns on?

You might have to size down but not to the extent of the ps if you want a skinny look.  I'm a 28-29 in trousers and jeans and the 28 were good but to achieve the same look with the ps I went down to 26 and also 27.  Neither stretched out comfortably in the top block and really hated the stretched out look of the button flies.

I'm happy with the New Standards these days but for a skinny look I'd definitely get the pns

If this was to me, I haven't. Just followed helpful advice and managed to get the right ps the first time out.
