Thanks, looks like I should try to find a pair of Original Standards in 27 or 28. I have NS in 27, they look good but I wish I could wear them higher. They are still pretty tight too but when I pull them up to where I would like to wear them they feel and look great (aside from the ball-crushing going on). I guess the extra inch (?) on the rise of Original Standards would be perfect.

I have them in a 26 and want to replace them for a 27 now.  They've started to sag which is putting a strain on the second button as opposed to the waistband and the button flies are looking bad.  If I keep them up with a belt, I realise how much my balls are visible now that the denim has softened.

Original Standards/Standards seem to be pretty hard to find in the right size and unhemmed. While I'm looking can anyone recommend some other brand that would be similar in fit and look to NS 28, just with a slightly higher rise?

Does anyone happen to have a pair of NS 28 or NS 29 nearby? I'd love to know the actual front and back rise measurements, measured from the upper edge of the waist line.

From my previous experience with raw denim (PBJ xx-011) the thighs did not stretch much, if at all.

lol I was in the same dilemma as you! a 32 was sausage tight on my thighs so I chose a 33. I have maybe ~50 wears on my apcs since then? And the thighs on my size 33 feel very comfortable but my waist has stretched so I wear a belt at all times. I wonder if I chose a 32 maybe my thighs wouldn't of been as comfortable but my waist would've been better. ah this sucks

My experience with APC is better to get the tighter fit which will definitely give a little. I used to buy 33s but realized that after a bunch of wear they were too loose. I sized down to a 32 and although snug initially they fit perfectly after some wear.

Doesn't look as though the Low Standards are available anymore on the US site but End have a Petit Low Standard if anyone has tried them?  The rise as modelled certainly looks a lot longer than reg petits

Bought a pair of New Standards after a long raw denim break. Was very in between on a size 31 or 32 but after wearing both for a little while I went almost TTS and went with the 32s. 31s just did not have enough rise or room in the thighs and were constricting to walk and move in. The 32s are pretty much exactly how I want my jeans to fit, I just hope they don't stretch out to be too much bigger.

I'd rather have some room in my fit anyway. Really sucks if you spend a year breaking in your jeans to grow out of them.

Very new to raw denim and am thinking about getting a pair of APC Petit New Standard Raw Indigo. I'm wondering what size I should get since I hear that they stretch up to like 2 sizes in the waist! For reference, I wear a size 28 in Levi's 511 but a 30 in Topman Stretch Skinnies...I've also tried on a pair size 29 Naked and Famous super skinny guys but couldn't even button them all the way up and have also tried on a size 29 in Nudie Slim Jims where it was pretty tight in the waist but was doable. Should I go with a size 27 in the APCs then?

Order the APC from any store with an easy exchange policy. APC stretch but in my experience, you should have the right body shape to wear them. I recommend you getting a size where the waist is a bit tight, but the top block is only uncomfortable BECAUSE OF STIFFNES. If the hips or thighs are tight they are not going to stretch to the point they will became your second skin, so I will try sizes 29 and 30 and decide which fots better. Remember they only stretch on the waist, they shouldn't be a pain to wear (imo) just a bit uncomfrtable because of stiffnes

Has anyone here had any experience with the raw stretch denim?

I am a 28 in the PNS 100% cotton raws, which is perfect for me after the initial stretch. I'd like to purchase the stretch in a size 29 and taper the legs to a 5.5" leg opening.

Just adding a data point to the discussion: Petit Standard can be a tiny bit looser fit than the Petit New Standard -- even though in certain sizes the measurements are exactly the same. That sounds kind of odd but I think the extreme taper on the PNS changes how they wear.

I tried on a range of sizes in both fits. I wear a 32 or 33 in pants and went with a 32 in PS, the nonstretch fabric. The 33 PNS was way too big in the waist; the 32 was too tight in the thighs and calfs. But the 32 PS had just a little more room in the legs.

Also with weak euro, APC denim is a pretty good deal here in Europe. 145 euros = 154 USD.

how does gabardine differ from denim, though?

The gabardine ones have a smoother hand and more sheen
