you are going to soak (and shrink, even if only a little) eventually, so why not get it over with.
if you spend time in most of the other denim threads (momos, samurai etc) this is the standard approach.
Lol TTS... Read through many pages of this thread and you will end up confusing yourself big time. First, they are vanity sized I believe by 2 waist sizes. So if you are 30, the tagged 28's would measure out to 30. Then you have to account for stretch. Many people say their jeans stretched by about 1-2 waist sizes. So your 28's would fit like 31's or 32's after a month or two of wear. I would say that's the general feeling I got from reading many many many pages of this thread. Then there is the issue of thigh sizing. Also what kind of fit do you want? New Standard is slim straight. Petit Standard is skinny. Petit New Standard is in between. There are a couple of other cuts. My particular pair of jeans ended up shrinking and never stretching back out again after soaking. This isn't a big deal to me, and I think most people say that their jeans stretch back out.
What I did is I went to my local Nordstrom and tried on several pairs of New Standards and Petit Standards. The PS's were so damn tight my balls couldn't breathe. The New Standards looked like baggy ass potato sacks on my legs. I decided I wanted PNS's without ever having tried them on or seen them in person. I went to eBay and bought them for about $10 off retail with free shipping. This isn't the best deal and you can certainly shop around and wait until better sales come around.
