I would buy the Rescue and just size down one extra size. NS appear pretty straight (since your leg itself is tapered), but the Rescue is truly straight, and a bit wider (NS will never be 8-9in across unless you go up to mid-calf or are buying like size 36). Given your measurements, I'd buy the Rescue in a 29, possibly a 28 if your top block isn't particularly bulky (upper thighs/ass).

hmm..

are the rescues kinda like 501's? to be honest, i've got two pairs of 501 STF now, and i dont ever wear them because i dont really like the fit at all. rise is too high (i think i have a short torso, plus i'm 5'10" so anything above 10" to 11" rise i think looks funny) and i also dont like the baggy ass 501's get. i've seen a couple rescue fits like this, and some not so i'm not sure.

I have a pair of levis 514's which are my main jeans right now, in size 30x32. apart from the waist being like 1 to 2 inches too small (i stretched them though) the legs are perfect, (stretched to like 12" in the thigh to accommodate my 22" thighs, and they have an 8" leg opening) but the rise (9" exactly) is too low.

that reminds me, how much to the thighs in APC's stretch? because if they dont stretch much, even the rescues, judging by the measurements, would be skin-tight in the thighs on me.

thanks for you help, and input.

I don't consider the Rescue particularly saggy ********** or baggy in the thigh. They certainly loosen up as you wear them, but if you buy them tight in the thigh they'll eventually loosen up there and also fit in the top block. The rise isn't as high as 501s, IMO, and in fact isn't really any higher than the NS. I'd say the Rescue and NS fit identical in the thigh, with the Rescue sized one size down.

good to know. i guess i'll look up some more fit pics, but so far i'm thinking either 29 rescue or 30 ns.

probably still be some time before i order, i usually drag my feet alot when it comes to spending more than 50 dollars on any one thing. i guess i've become too used to being a poor university student.

So I was just in the New York shop, and picked up an awesome pair of APC Petite Standard Leger jeans. I can't find any information on them online, but was wondering if anyone knew anything about them.

Hey guys, long time lurker first time caller, and I have a dilemma. I'm ordering my first pair of New Standards, and have no benchmark to base the size on. Currently I wear:

Gap Skinny Selvage in 30 (though these are a tad too skinny for my liking)
An Express Pair in 29
A PD Gap pair in 30
And a 7FAM in 31

I was thinking of ordering either a 29 or 28. Any help?

ok i decided that i'm gonna go for a 30 ns.

fit pics of the ns are pretty much exactly what i want them to fit like, only reason i wanted a larger leg opening is because i like the way a 8" to 9" leg opening breaks over nice shoes (like dress shoes or something) but to be honest i only wear dress shoes like 10% of the time. and i've seen quite a few pics of new standards with dress shoes that look nice.

so i guess i'll lurk b&s to see if someone is selling some newish 30's while i wait for context to restock.
