I have a pair of Tricker's (non-stow) in Gold color. I use these country boots like they should be! However, after a lot of snow, slush and salt, I recently washed them and they have these dark spots appearing to come from within the leather.

Any way to get rid of them? As can be seen in the attached pic, it seems to be growing. I'm really not that concerned for these "beater" boots, but I have used Saphir Renovateur in the past. My main concern is that I would like to get a pair of normal Tricker's shoes or loafers in a similar light color and am concerned that they will suffer the same fate!

Looking to
1) get rid of the spots if possible (deglazer or acetone?)
2) what causes them (they are not unlike the lace marks left on the tongue of the boot)....

Any advice?

Many thanks!
