Need a little help with choosing replacement buttons for a blazer.

Just got myself a navy blazer, jacket is awesome, buttons really aren't. Obviously they made it assuming people who put on their own buttons, so obviously that's what I should do.

Question is, where is the best place to get them, and how do people feel about silver as opposed to gold?

Gold is more traditional, but I feel silver looks a little "younger" and at any rate my watch and pretty much all of my cufflinks are silver, so I think it'll suit me better with silver.

What do you guys think about those? I have no experience with blazer buttons, so any input is appreciated

They seem fairly priced at $35, but if anyone knows a better place I'm all ears. Naturally I want them looking good and will pay what I need to for that to happen, but I have little interest in shelling out a large sum for real gold/silver buttons if you can't tell the difference.

lol really? I thought they were kinda nice. Yeah the lion and the unicorn is sort of random, but I feel they have to have something on them.

The thing is though, that while I love MOP in general, this is my first "proper" blazer so I sort of want to go the whole way with the traditional approach, so I guess I feel that metal buttons just somehow belong.

Is it generally considered a big deal whether or not the motif on the buttons has any relation though? Do people actually look at the motif? I just picked this one because they have a good shine without being overly bright, and the coat of arms gives the whole thing a more muted effect than if they'd been plain, sort of like brushing without actual brushing. That was my thinking anyway.

lol, damn. Now I'm not feeling as enthusiastic about those buttons.

What do you guys think of these?

The first is the Coat of Arms of the East India Company and the second is that of the City of London

As for having a connection to me, I'll readily admit I never had much to do with the East India Company, I wasn't really making much mark on the world in 1858.
While I no longer do, I used to live in the City of London, so this one sort of has a connection.
I'm not a British subject, so is it weird for me to wear the Britannia? On the one hand it's not an official coat of arms, and a crown and anchor is pretty general. On the other hand the crown is meant to be the british one, and I neither sail nor own a yacht.

They also have one with a hunter, which would suit me as I hunt, but that one's only in gilt, so I don't know...

What do you guys think, both in terms of aesthetics and appropriateness?

By the way these are all about £50 for 2 big and 8 small, so a bit more expensive than the first set, but still relatively reasonable I think.

Yes, I've often been accused of attempting to impersonate the Queens of various countries. I take it you're speaking of the first one though, the one with the lion and stallion etc. Or do you mean the Britannia one with the crown and anchor?

Yes the East India Company was ended in 1858, which I take it is the reason for the "1858" being on the button right below the symbol. And I agree on the color, shiny enough to be visibly metal, without being particularly ostentatious.
