2015 FBI reports: 12% increase in murders, 4% increase in violent crime overall.

I'm sure it's just a fluke.

Global warming.

Note also that most of the increase is in black victims -- almost a thousand more black people were murdered in 2015 than 2014. And 2016 is shaping up to build on that significantly.

Half the national increase is just from Chicago. Pretty crazy.

I don't think anyone is arguing the fact that there's an increase, it's more the "why" that's up for debate.

Chicago is a dangerous place these days, but the violence is spreading outside the traditional areas, and they're seeing shootings on Lake Shore Drive and in the Loop.

I thought it was global warming.

I thought it was global warming.

I think it was due to the increase of zombie- type movies and shows. There has to be a link

What about violent video games and movies? I'm sure those 2 are also linked to the increased violence.

At least the global warming thing was funny (the 2016 murder surge in Chicago had been attributed to a temperate winter). I don't know if anybody's still making that claim now, though, as it's actually gotten worse through the summer.
