WTF over-zealous police? - Page 37

Tough call.

Self-possessed annoying chick with stupid fucking shoes ignores cop then throws a temper tantrum or tubby cop wants to hook up and get some exercise tips.

I was pulled over yesterday in Nicaragua for apparently crossing a solid white line in a roundabout. When I pointed out that roundabout didn't have any lines the policia said they're putting them in next week.

We handled it like gentlemen - two minutes and twenty dollars later I was free to go.

It actually took 4 cops (2 of them were bike cops) to "subdue" her, all for not jogging around her own neighborhood with an ID (they asked to present her ID and she couldn't, so they charged her, cuffed her and took her to the station).

All in the name of (according to the police chief) reducing the number of pedestrian deaths (of which there've been 96 in 5 years there). I could have my priorities all wrong, but it seems to me that the 150+ murders, 1200+ rapes, 6000+ robberies, 8000+ assaults, and 40,000+ burglaries that also occurred in the same 5 years in Austin might need a little more attention than the victimless crime of a pedestrian simply acting stupid of their own accord by not looking both ways before crossing or something similar.

This is not policing or protecting or serving. This is state-sanctioned thuggery and big-brothering.

Can just imagine that conversation going down.

"But...there aren't any lines."

"We know."

"Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...." (reaches for wallet)

Except she's allowed to ignore them, she had committed no crime and is not required to carry ID in Texas.

Isn't there some fitness test that cops have to pass every couple of years or so? Obese cops seem so pointless to me.

Depends on the specific department. Many locals do not.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/26/justice/oklahoma-arrest-death-video/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Cliffs:
-Mom, dad, and daughter go to movies
-Mom and daughter get into a fight, mom slaps daughter
-Good samaritan reports domestic violence to police
-Pigs arrive, murder the dad when 5 of them are engaged in putting cuffs on him (He was not involved in the domestic violence)
-Chief says action reasonable, paid leave for everyone involved so then can enjoy some well-deserved R&R

Vid in the link.

Hate to cite Gawker but:

Not sure if posted before. Man previously facing 30 years in prison released with all charges dropped after dash cam in police car (not previously shared by the prosecution) is released.

On a lighter note, at least there's this moron, who also moonlights as a chief of police:

http://www.capitalgazette.com/blogs/under_the_dome/annapolis-police-chief-cites-hoax-story-in-opposition-to-marijuana/article_97c304e5-b485-5981-9197-9b5f9f5f97e7.html

Quote:

“The first day of legalization, that’s when Colorado experienced 37 deaths that day from overdose on marijuana,” Pristoop testified at Tuesday’s Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee hearing. “I remember the first day it was decriminalized there were 37 deaths.”

But Sen. Jamie Raskin, D-Montgomery, who has proposed a bill that would legalize, regulate and tax the drug, immediately fact-checked Pristoop.

“Unless you have some other source for this, I’m afraid I’ve got to spoil the party here,” Raskin said. “Your assertion that 37 people died of a marijuana overdose in Colorado was a hoax on the DailyCurrant and the Comedy Central website.”

A chief of police in 2014 said this. It just goes to show that they don't give a shit about fact-checking, just so long as they can continue to mainline the $500 million in grant money that the Department of Justice gives them each year to "fight drugs." The police are the real addicts here.

Dude's probably gonna need a colostomy bag now because of this:

The cop, of course, got paid leave.
