Well, this is probably a first; the dead kid's mother seems to be saying his shooting was reasonable. If all things check out it's hard to disagree the officer was completely justified here.

Mom seemed to be taking the deaths of not one but two of her sons pretty well. Strange. Then they said she had 11 kids.

It's always weird when people complain about the number of times someone gets shot by the police. Six times is too many. But four would have been ok? Dead is dead, doesn't seem like it really makes any difference once you hit that point (within reason). If a cop reloads to shoot a corpse, that's probably worth complaining about.

These are they type of people that seriously believe that "shooting to wound" or better yet, shooting the gun out of someone's hand, are actual things. Their knowledge of use of force was acquired from a TV viewing of Lethal Weapon 2, probably.

I always liked the show "sledge hammer!" myself.

The worse look is the single shot to the back of the head.

Agreed.  If I was in a situation where I was defending myself, if you are still standing, I'm probably going to keep shooting.  I'm not going to shoot your corpse though.

Anyone worth shooting once is worth shooting multiple times.
Well, the one here was 17 shots or something...that's a little absurd, even if its true that there will always be a game of "if X isn't ok, how about X-1?".

And it is worth acknowledging that that's a basic strategy in any sort of argument/political campaign/speech writing. Even if it is entirely reasonable to fire 6 times, someone will use the number in the speech to emphasize it. It isn't just anti police activists who use this tactic...If something is quantifiable, and that number sounds "large"...it will be quoted.

Sure, some of the people really do think it matters that someone who shouldn't have been shot at all got shot 6 times rather than just once, but many of them are just using it as a rhetorical device to add weight to their comments.

Agreed. It's just like how the media will say, "500 rounds were found in his closet!" as opposed to, "He had five boxes of target ammo in his closet."

Reminded me of the ~70 bullets that hit Abu Jihad.
