Did the video also show him being literally choked to death? It doesn't show beating for "several minutes straight"; it shows him being hit for about 10-15 seconds, with cuts in between, and fighting back or resisting the entire time.

To be fair, when a guy did get choked to death a few years back, you also thought that was okay.

So when getting beat by multiple people utilizing batons or other blunt objects what is the correct course of action?

  1. Curl in a fetal position on the ground?
  2. Lay flat on the ground?
  3. Cry for your assailants to stop?
  4. Attempt to cover your head and your face?
  5. Try to dodge blows and avoid further injury?
  6. Lay still and say "More please"

Clearly he wasn't beaten badly if he was able to stand more than once. There's an argument to be made here that we are just looking at some gentle love taps.

Typical "victim" playing it up for the cameras.

* Most importantly continuously yell, "But officer! I'm NOT resisting."

I only watched it once on my phone, but I don't recall this happening at all.

You don't see him pulling his hands away, rolling, trying to stand up, etc., while the cops try to handcuff him?

The video looks suspiciously like there's more of that, too, but they edited it out to make it look more like he's trying to protect himself from the blows instead of resisting their efforts to handcuff him. Notice that, through it all, he's not handcuffed, even though the cops are trying to do it throughout; and the video seems to encompass a much longer span of time than the 40 or so seconds that are shown.

Hitting someone on the arms to stop them from reaching or to make them comply with handcuffing is pretty standard procedure, though I guess it used to be more popular in the past, since, as this case demonstrates, hitting someone looks bad.

It's good to see blows to the cranium are still popular though. I was afraid they were going to become passe after the Malice Green killing.

Yeah, he does seem to have some kind of injury to his scalp, though whether that's from the dive he took into the curb at the beginning, stray blows, or intentional ones, it's impossible to say.

If he had serious head injuries, I bet it would have been reported.

I see another 16 year old in Chicago is shot dead by the police and there's already demonstrations.
