WTF over-zealous police? - Page 166

Great. Thread just went Godwin.

This isn't a real thread to talk and solve all of the world issues but a place to spew view points without facts. Qouting police policy and then attempting to use it to to prove a point, who does that? If you had twisted this policy into a way to prove the criminal was justified in running away from the evils of the prison system(a bad warden who was using him as a sex puppet or the like) even old Harvey would have your back.

Guy just rubs me the wrong way. A complete cop apologist coming in and spewing crap he thinks he knows more about than he actually does. There's plenty of cop apologists, every fucking news station is giving this guy a standing ovation for shooting an unarmed person. You or I couldn't get away with that, but cops are "special" so it's ok.

You really don't know how to read do you?  "in the course of effecting or attempting to effect an arrest, or of preventing or attempting to prevent the escape from custody"

If you are literate or intelligent you would understand that "or" means there are two options.  If it said "and" then both would be required.  I tried explaining it nicely at first, but it failed.  You are obviously a complete fucking retard who does not know how to read.   I'm not a "cop apologist," I just know how to read the laws.

For the record I never said I agreed with their methods. I just said he is "justified" under the law.

It's a good idea to have a fucking clue as to what you're talking about before you start correcting people.  I'm 100% on my reading of the penal code and you're a fucking moron.

Why? Because your little atheists ethics got kicked in the head.

What is ethics? Who ever wins? By what method? Persuasion of words, guns, bombs? Ethics is 100% pull the wool over peoples eyes as though there is something good in this deception. Did you get the wool pull over your eyes in college, or sooner?

Translating idiotese is pretty tricky. Here's my best shot:

"Yes, I did, in fact, allude to Nazism, but I feel that this notoriously hackneyed gambit was justified. It is a familiar example (familiar enough that an idiot like me can readily access it) of how human rhetoric can create a system of legality that makes moral abominations possible. Despite my lack of any specific knowledge of ethics as a longstanding philosophical tradition, I shall glibly dub this kind of human reasoning 'ethics' and contrast it with some sort of absolute moral judgment that religious faith supposedly confers. (And by religion, I almost certainly mean Christian monotheism interpreted in a particularly tawdry and stupid American way.) I shall ignore the obvious fact that Nazi antisemitism derives from a particular history of European Christian antisemitism. I shall also ignore the obvious fact that Judaeo-Christian monotheism frequently suspends moral/ethical behavior to allow for all sorts of abominations.

None of this has anything to do with the current discussion at hand, really. Except I wanted to chime in about how religious values are better than human ones."
