The bolded is the part people actually care about. If black on black murders are isolated to the ghetto neighborhoods, nobody cares. It's when they spill out into gentrifying or mixed areas that people get riled up.
Nobody in DC blinks an eye when someone east of the Anacostia gets shot, but do it near the Nats stadium (which was pure ghetto in the 1990s) and there'll be a crusade.
Have you not noticed the tremendous effort to curtail black-on-black crime, the massive investment in prisons and police and policing -- that this "black lives matter" bullshit is actually a response to?
Are you kidding me? People "from the suburbs" -- I assume you mean taxpayers in general -- pony up a tremendous amount of money already. It just doesn't work.
The tactics of mass incarceration and massive policing have been going on for what, 40 years? It's pretty obviously reached the limit of whatever effectiveness it might have had, but nobody seems overly interested in reevaluating alternative approaches. The "take back our cities" thing was probably honest 20-30 years ago, but sure doesn't look like it is anymore.
I'm not going to pretend to have any kind of solution for inner city violence, but doubling down on policing and incarceration at this point cannot seriously be considering "giving a shit."
It worked for everyone else.
Really? Those Appalachian coal mining towns are bootstrapping their way to prosperity, and not just smoking lots of meth?
