Most of the time, I have been able to get them to honor the deal. I just bring in the catalog with the promo code. I find the employees at the 7th Ave NYC store easier to work with than the other NYC stores.

Just got my first order from CT. I ordered the white poplin extra slim French cuffs. It fits great everywhere except sometimes the shoulder/upper back area is tight. Is this normal for CT? I've never felt this with other brands before. It doesn't hurt, and I don't feel it all the time, it's just when I'm doing certain things like reach up with both arms.

Poplin? Anyway I prefer twill IMO for shirts in general

I just placed my first order for 2 CT shirts + the free tie. I'm pretty sure I will need to tailor my ESF shirts upon arrival since BB's ESF shirts are a bit baggy on me. Hopefully these will turn out well.

Sounds like a fit issue to me. Are you a good bit larger in the chest / shoulders area than in the waist?

I don't think so. I'm a 42r jacket and 36 pant. Maybe I like my shirts tighter than others? I'll be honest I really like Express fitted shirts sizing. Just trying to upgrade materials.

I'm 5'10, 160 lbs, 36" chest, and CT's ESF size medium shirts are a little tight for me on the shoulders; though the chest and sleeves fit me perfectly, I'm afraid that they'd become even tighter after washing.

Looking at their size chart for a 16.5, for example, shows a chest of 44 and a waist of 42. In what world is that considered "extra slim?"

The chest is a "to fit" measurement, meaning that it is actually slightly larger in the chest than indicated. The waist measurement is the waist measurement of the actual shirt. So it's probably about a 4-5 inch drop. By standards of OTR non-designer dress shirts, that's pretty slim. In my experience, many slim fit dress shirts look good on guys who are not quite slim. Extra slim fit dress shirts are needed by guys who are slim to average. If you're super skinny, I'd check out the slim fit dress shirt thread or just go MTM.

I guess I just don't see how these OTR brands advertise as being slim, yet they have a 4" drop (advertised as being less than 4", though). They don't seem to be able to decide if they're making these shirts for skinny people, average people, athletic people, etc. I'm sure they're trying to do a one-size-fits-all, which inevitably leaves them in the same place as their classic fit shirts - a shirt that's so-so fitting on many people, and an excellent fit on very few people. I've yet to find a brand that can realistically cater to a large neck, chest and shoulders, and a slim waist - although Hugo Boss Slim can fit me when I'm at a lighter weight, but there are cost/quality concerns there. I wish one of these makers would come out with a line that caters to athletic builds.

Agreed on the lack of truly slim-fitting shirts by any manufacturers. I've come to accept the fact that I'm just a lot slimmer than the average joe. The only options are to order the best-fitting shirts and have them tailored or go MTM. I've tried Modern Tailor and it wasn't bad but I prefer going to the tailor since he can make shirts fit really well on me.

bloody hell people, if you either want a skin tight shirt or you are that oddly shaped/skinny that even ESF shirts are too large/don't fit, gather up your big boy pants and go MTM or have the shirts tailored.

Complaining that no OTR shirt has a 7 drop or a 26" waist is equivalent to mental masturbation.

Those are my measurements and most slim fit OTR shirts in the market aren't baggy at all, even taking into account that I have wider hips than usual. CT extra slim doesn't even fit. 15.5" neck. Do you happen to have a wider neck?

I'm curious what your neck size is. I am 5'9", 150 lbs, 40 chest, 32 waist, 16 neck. If you say a 36" chest is a good fit I don't see how I can fit into one of these shirts. I've tried on Brooks Brothers ESF shirts in store (16/33) and it was quite baggy at the waist. The chest was decent, but still a little big.
