Thanks for your words of encouragement El Argentino.

In regard to cordovan shell: It is the solvent in shoe polish that can penetrate into the pores of cordovan and cause them to expand. While orange oil is not as harsh as turpentine in that regard, it is still a solvent, so I would say that I do not have a polish specifically designed for cordovan shell.

As a side note: I have never seen any first hand proof that the amount of solvent in shoe polish applied to a shoe was sufficient to damage shell cordovan. It would be interesting to see if anyone on the forum has experienced the problem first hand.

1 coat of the cleaner/conditioner, brushed thoroughly, waited a couple of hours and brushed again.

2 coats of the of the cream polish, same brushing process.

4 thin coats of the High Shine paste polish, applied with a moist folded cotton round. The trick is keeping the applicator (folded cotton round in my case) moist.

I actually like the smell of the turpentine solvent that Saphir uses in their products, but my wife hates the smell.

That's an understatement. Trying using Renovateur in an enclosed room.

I have regularly used Saphir Creme (non cordovan) and Venetian creme on my cordovan from time to time for over a year now. I'm amazed at the results. I have even exchanged emails with Nick Horween on this very topic and he recommends Venetian which has high concentration of Turpentine btw.
IMO this cordovan special purpose creme etc is nothing more than marketing hype. As long as you use the polished the right way, brush off clean etc...I feel I will be OK.

Just wanted to post some quick results.

They're not after any rugged wear, they're after 3 wears (shoes are new, never had a drop of polish on them). I'm happy with it so far and will be ordering more when I'm out.

I can see it made it a little darker, just one shade. Glen made sure I knew that would happen before he sent my order out, which I appreciate greatly.

Before

After

Also, it makes the room smell like oranges, which I'm not against.
