How do I care for my Alden leather belt and shoes? Do I buy the Alden wax or cream?

Several years ago a girlfriends father was generous enough to gift me a pair of Alden loafers. They are black cordovan, as far as I remember, and came with a matching black belt. I am not sure if the belt is cordovan as well. It has now been 4 years since those shoes were purchased and while they dont see wear often, they have never been cleaned or conditioned and neither has the belt. It is probably time to do so. My questions are:

1) Do I need the Alden wax, cream, or both?

2) How do I care for the belt?

3) The loafers have black stitching; does this alter the cleaning/conditioning technique? Do I have to avoid getting any compounds in the stitching?

Thank you for your help, gentlemen! I will try to provide pictures...

Since I am more of a shoes addicted, from sneakers to dress shoes, I may be able to answer these questions for you.

1) Shoe cream and wax do not need to be Alden, however, since the shoes are cordovan, you need a cordovan cream and wax. Saphir  is a recommended ones. However, it is up to you if you want to spend $30 for the cream and wax. On a side note, it will last you years if you have only one shoes.

2) For the belt, I would use mink oil to maintain it. You may try shoe cream, but you have to make sure first if your belt is regular leather or cordovan.

3) I don't think there will be any problem using black cream/wax to a black stitching.

I see that you never condition your shoes before, so I suggest you buy some Saphir Renovateur to clean and restore them first.
