Peter Dinklage is joining the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past, according to a tweet from director Bryan Singer.

"Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMEN #DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!" Singer tweeted Wednesday.

Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister on HBO's Game of Thrones, joins returning cast members from 2011's X-Men: First Class as well as actors who appeared in the original X-Men trilogy released from 2000-06.

Days of Future Past, based on a 1981 story in Marvel Comics' Uncanny X-Men, will include both the 1960s First Class characters as well as a future version of the original trilogy characters. The original trilogy actors are said to appear primarily in scenes depicting a dystopian future.

First Class stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are on board for the film, while original series stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore are also returning.

Days of Future Past, from 20th Century Fox, is eyeing an April start date and is slated for a July 18,

Peter Dinklage fuck yeah!

they didn't confirm he's playing Puck, but I really don't know if there's any character in the xmen universe who's a midget. or a dwarf. or just short.

i'm with you, i just don't get it. plus, he was really alpha flight, and I wonder if that's even covered under the x-men licensing agreements.

Could always be doing voice work, playing a new character, or a lesser character who wasn't originally a dwarf. I would actually prefer them making new characters that fit their script/plot rather than pulling characters from the existing universe just to have them there for name recognition/fan service (Gambit in the Wolverine movie).

Best theory I have seen making rounds is he will play Bolivar Trask, the creator of the Sentinels. Before anyone gets up in arms over the fact that this character was not a dwarf, keep in mind he's fairly obscure. Most people wouldn't care about such a change and Dinklage has the ability to command a performance larger then life.

It's not Puck. I don't see them working him into the story at all.

He's going to be the villain (so probably not puck): http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118066221/

Speaking of Gambit, I never got why he wasn´t in any of the movies. And that part in the Wolverine movie doesn´t count. I want to see the Gambit I watched in the cartoon show, not that clown. He was an awesome character.

He is a relatively newer X-men and I'm not sure he would have fit in particularly well with Rogue being as young as she was in the movies. The cartoon adaptation of the Days of Future past storyline incorporated Gambit, so they could conceivably pull him in, but again shoehorning him in just for the sake of adding additional characters seems like a bad idea.

If Gambit were introduced in the movie American audiences wouldn't be able to accept the over-the-top Marvel universe. I mean, people shooting lasers from their eyes and controlling atoms of metallic substances telekinetically is one thing, but French people living in the American south is just too ridiculous.

You saw speculation on MTV Splashpage about what villain 'Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage is playing in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ this morning… But thanks to a tipster who prefers to remain anonymous, but is extremely reliable, we can tentatively confirm: Dinklage is playing Bolivar Trask, inventor of the mutant hunting robot Sentinels in the movie sequel.

Yup. smile.gif

odd. i don't really see Dinklage as a zealot-type. then again, i suppose it depends on what iteration of Trask they're working off of.

I loved him in "Ice Age 4". He needs to bring that type of intensity again if he wants to compete with the likes of Stewart, Fassbender, and McKellen.
