At the moment i have more non-formal evening shoes. That is b/c work shoes are black and captoes, whereas other shoes are different styles and other colours not just black

Gotta be honest with you I'm a bit surprised. I thought this plain vs medallion thing was going to be a 50:50 split but it proved that plain is a lot more common!

Right now I'd give the edge to plain cap-toe over medallion but that changes.  I have both but my plain-toes are definitely getting more wear at the moment.

...depends on the outfit.

Though I prefer a medallion, I consider a plain cap more formal, and allow the situation to dictate which i wear.

id normally say plain for the office but i really dont follow that rule at my current job. i think medallions are more fun, and the male population at my office thinks that steve madden slip on square toed elf shoes are the bomb. Now i just wear whatever i feel like.
