So gents which is your favourite and why?

Would your preference change with material? (e.g. calf and cordovan)

and what's your favourite medallion pattern?

Pics are always welcome!

I usually sit on the fence when it comes to this particular discussion. But so far my verdict is:

Medallion for calf

Cap for cordovan

I think for calf the medallion distracts the creasing of calf making it look better overall and for cordovan the shine that cordovan has is interrupted if there is a medallion so a plain toe for that.

In both cases I prefer oxfords.

Although I have voted for plain toe, I prefer:

Work (and could include weddings, etc) - plain
Other - medallion

My favorite cap toes are AE Park Avenue and Fifth Avenue with no preference of one over the other.

I agree with Macallan. The type of toe, and shoe in general, depends on the circumstances in which you are wearing it. I prefer plain toe for work, medallion for more casual atmospheres.

Agreed most people I think goes by this principle.

Out of interest does people here tend to have more cap toes being at work 5 days a week and all?

Both - just depends on the situation: More formal plain, less formal with a medallion.

With regards to medallion shape: I like the look of a slimmer / more phallic pattern, e.g. EG Asquith beats AE Strands

I would agree with the previous posts that state that the choice is situational. I'm glad I have both. Shouldn't punch caps be another option?

As I learned from GTA: Vice City...

"f you cannot support a medallion, you cannot support a family."

Of course, it's situation-dependent. The medallion is more casual, but it fits more with my present lifestyle. I still have plain-toes around though, for those times when I need to suit up more formally.

Yeah I wanted to fix that but once the first vote was cast the forum didn't let me change it...

Please cast all votes other than medallion or plain to neither.
