Mad Men Season 6 (Begins April 7, 2013) - Page 27

Glad they didn't overload this episode with everyone overly drugged out and stoned. Oh wait...

Overly is a relative term

Had to laugh at Roger getting nut punched. Gotta be a good animated GIF for that coming soon....

Yeah, 100% Falcon Punch material there.

I feel that in between all the dreck some plot lines were actually moved forward. Renaming the company, progress with Chevy, we now know Joan wants to change her role, the open hostility between Peggy and Joan and then Peggy helping Joan, foreshadowing Megan is pregnant again (although she really looked like Sharon Tate in hippie dress in Don's hallucination), Bob Benson getting assigned to an account, and the fact Don cannot handle hash.

I'm not usually hot for Jessica Pare (she's beautiful and all, I'm just not into her), but she looked incredible with that long hippie hair. I'm starting to think that it's just the haircut that I don't like.

Jessica has very English teeth for a Frenchie.

I've read a few recaps and none have picked up on the fact that during the hash trip, he is called Don and then says something along the lines of "That's not my name." It seems to be important when taken with Megan's talk of second chances, Private Dinkins' talk of being MIA/dead, and Don's fall into the pool (suicide attempt?).

I also just remembered Don's trip to California in season 2 when he passed out with the nomads, and one of them telling him to aim for the pool next time.

Is it just me or does Don get sick/high a lot and have dream sequences?

Every time Draper goes to LA he has some dreamlike, epiphanic experience, as if there was some other life he should be living. Not this time, Don, too old, your life is your life.

Dinkins' "You should see what you look like" was a great line.

I also really enjoyed that line.  I don't know about anyone else but I thoroughly enjoy seeing Don lose his mind.  Long time coming.

They've done a good job this season making it feel like the world's coming apart at the seams. There's an endless anxiety that isn't always enjoyable to watch but I imagine must have been true for the time.

Good observation. Notice the constant sirens in the background in Don's apartment these days? Weiner makes it a point that people have to talk over the sirens.

Never thought about it but these are piss poor plot lines. I did enjoy it though. Joan getting put in her place and Bob stepping up (and his pep talk to the nutso dweeb) were nice.
