Mad Men Season 6 (Begins April 7, 2013) - Page 9

Quick question: Did Peggy and Ted get the Heinz ketchup account? From what I recall while watching it, Ted said something along the lines of "they bought it in the room", to which Don replied "...and we paid for that room." However I was reading a recap on Rolling Stone and they said that neither of them got the account.

I was under the impression Peggy and Ted signed them at the meeting.

Btw, does anyone think Don should lay off the pot? It was funny/cool when he did it once at his girlfriend's place with the beatniks then walked by the cops because he could while the beatniks were afraid to go out. This season though, just a few episodes in, and the pot thing is already way, way over done.

No neither of them got it. They went with a big firm. Hence the small firms comment which offended Don.

That makes sense. I wonder what that "bought it in the room" meant? "Bought it" as in "the concept died?" type thing?

Hmm I didn't think too much into that, I thought maybe they had a 3rd agency come in for a pitch after theirs and they eavesdropped similarly.

I'm just curious, but were 41 year old executives really that into weed in the late 60's, or are the writers forcing the issue into the show?

I guess the idea is that Madison Avenue would have been at the social cutting edge, the people at Heinz or Dow Chemical wouldn't have been smoking pot at the office. I'm not sure if that is true.

I also didn't catch on that Scarlett was skipping work to bang Harry which changes a lot of the tenor of their fight, if you got it.

Don is a pretty big libertine so I could probably see him doing it. Also, he's been feeling age creep on and wondering about his relevancy as an aging exec for some time now. I could see him smoking up with the younger members of "creative" for these reasons. He's also smoking up with Meagan too who is someone many years his junior.

it means they made their decision (choosing jwt) in the room. you hitting the wine? it wasn't exactly pregnant with double meaning

this was not remotely confusing.

I must be missing something. When Ted said they "bought it in the room" I thought he was referring to his company. My alternate explanation was trying to make sense of him not getting it.

I thought Pete said that they paid for the room. Someone said that Harry Crane was sleeping with his secretary, when did they allude to that?

The fact that Ted and Peggy looked so bumbed out probably should have been a tip.

Also, Stan is now the best character on the show.

Also, Marley Shelton. Damn.
