Thanks for the update, I've been thinking about getting a suit or two done at TCNY for a while now (I've had shirts made there and was very happy with them) but at the end of the day I might try somewhere else (or stick to OTR/tailor adjustments where I find good deals...)

Thats how they serve people, especially the founders, the girls in there are friendly though.

"That's how they serve people."

Well **** them. I mean really.

Will confirm the girl working that day was exceedingly helpful, not knowledgeable but helpful and interested in helping.

Was in The Armoury yesterday (Abercrombie & Fitch location) for the first time and felt the staff was not helpful and in fact border line disinterested.

Has anyone tried bespoke at Moustache?

I have not even been there, but I read in this thread somebody commissioned or tried to commission there. I also read they are more designer than tailor and their suits are fused only (if that is important to you).

If your frame is quite close to OTR, you may go well with TCNY. It seems they are less expensive than typical OTR sold at Lane Crawford.

Satorialist - which of the owners was present at the Armoury? I've never had issue with lack of attention there.

Usually, Mark / Alan / Ethan will only offer help if you ask. Jake is slightly better.
I guess they don't want to give an image of a retail shop, nonetheless the founders and employees are very helpful when you have question to ask. Personally I like the shop since they give you space if you just want a browse.

My experience at The Armoury was a good one. I went in, waited Ethan to finish with his client. Once he was free, he came over and greeted me. I said I was looking for shoes. We went through at least 1/2 dozen pairs of Carmina and he made sure I got the style I want with the right fit. I had a pair on hold and asked him where I could find C&J shoes. Without hesitation he referred me to Tassel. Few days later I went to pick up my shoes, we talked about Ring Jackets and Saphir products. He only shows items that I have questions on and didn't try to "sell" me anything. Overall it was a great experience and I felt that's my kind of menswear store.

I've visited The Armoury several times and commend that they have great service but I agree that they don't rush to service you but are helpful when asking for help. They don't rush over to help (but some may consider that desperate) yet they are 100% focused you on the customer when needed.

I gotta say that of the few tailors I've utilised, I most appreciate Il Sarto for their service, price and style. Lee Baron is overrated at 4.700$hk for a half canvassed basic fabric and after 2 suits + 4 shirts with them, I can't say I find value in their price and quality. For the same price (after 4 suits and a dozen shirts) I much appreciate the service at Il Sarto and their style offerings which are more modern.

I was in Moustache last week and dealt with Ellis; everything about Moustache, from its decor down to their "fabric swatch book" imparts a sense of artistry and originality. The shop isn't typical, it's playful sartorially.

I remain undecided but will probably commission a suit there because I feel they're competent and trust their guidance but also believe they'll give me the details as I want them.

They will create a fully canvased suit by the way, unfused, not sure where you heard that.

I don't think using Lane Crawford OTR pricing is the way to go re: value - they are way, way overpriced compared to any decent online or overseas shop (and also very successful, so good on them!). As mentioned, I really liked the shirts TCNY made me, but I found the OTR stuff just OK (great pants and solid blazers, pretty ordinary everything else) and I won't go for a suit for now based on your comments.

Hey, do you have a recommendation for a tailor to make custom blousons for me?

I've read half the thread and know that it's mostly suits&shirts, but I will be close to HK soon and have specific designs I always wanted to have made (Vuitton satin varsity jacket style).

From what I understand there are very seasoned tailors and newer ones, so even if you haven't seen your tailor make something like this maybe you find him flexible and capable of making something like this.

Thanks

Please give me your input on this, might be in HK as soon as next month..
