Thanks. This is very helpful as my intention is also to get fitted by Nelson.

The minimum order is quite a downer though. US$600 is a significant initial outlay.

My personal experience (not the Peninsula branch though): For the 2nd shirt onwards, you can provide your own cloth (i.e. CMT). This price for CMT is HK$ 850 (around US$ 110) per shirt. Also, you can request to get the first shirt, wear and wash it for a few times, then go back to get the 2nd one done (and potentially also request some minor adjustments on the first one), and so on for the 3rd shirt.

Not sure whether other shirt tailors in HK can do the same. I'm just very satisfied with such exceptional flexibility and service. Perfect for newbies like me.

Of course, this works for me because I live in HK.

I agree. Ascot Chang is exp but in terms of service its by far the most accomodating. I requested a extreme cutaway collar from scratch and they were more than happy to help me make one, and it took several tries. At the time I was a first time customer ordering just the basic fabrics too.

WW Chan have the best handmade button holes in the business not just in Hong Kong. The problem is they are so neat and even to the untrained they do look like machine made.
My jackets are all have a hand canvased chest and handmade buttonholes but I believe he has a few different situ (tailors) that he uses and you have to speak out from beginning you want more handwork.

yes, WW Chan is now providing Milanese buttonhole as default, which is very neat and nicely done. The following jacket, made of W Bill Irish Donegals, is a good example.

Attached are 3 suits I had made at a popular Hong Kong tailor.

The two I on the right are about 1.5 years old and are extremely comfortable and, in my opinion, look very good.

The one on the left is brand new (2 left pics are same suit). It is a bit closer to the body but, unfortunately, this made the body look less shaped. I also think the shoulders are about 0.5 too narrow and that the shoulders look better with a little "turn up" at the end. I also had the length reduced by 0.5 inches on the new suit, which I am fairly indifferent about.

I would love to hear what changes you think I should make on future suits, or if I should get the new one altered.

Fabrics are Lesser 13oz, Harrisons flannel and fox flannel FWIW. Happy with all the fabrics.

Here is a version with the contrast turned up a bit.

Cross post form the Cloth Thread

One final Item until next year.

The hardcore baby alpaca wool full double breasted overcoat. This will be very useful on trips and cold HK days.

On the topic of overcoat anyone has experience with overcoat with WW Chan or Gordon Yao?
Or are there other better options?

Has anyone been to Dream Bespoke recently? I don't know if they are having problems because of the protests or something.

They were closed on certain days due to the protest.

Ricky is very prompt via emails though, so just shoot him a mesasge if you have inquiries.

Yeah he usually is, but he hasn't replied to my last 2 emails so I was wondering if he's okay or if he's extremely busy due to the situation.

I can't imagine that the protest will delay his email responses though.
