I'm going to be in Hong Kong for 3.5 days and Shanghai for 4.5 next month as part of a school/tourist trip. This will probably be my only time in the area for a long time or even life, and my first thought was that I would be able to pick up some custom suits/shirts at a discount. But after reading through, I'm pretty sure that I'm not knowledgeable enough to navigate the process and really find value, and I'm interested in your thoughts.
I have to dress up for work a few times a quarter, so even a limited rotation of styles would take care of my needs, but I like to dress a bit ahead of my peers. Currently I wait for good sale prices on Brooks Brothers and try to pick something up, 43-44R, 38 Waist, 5"11, 220lbs. Workout so broad shoulders/thighs, but the stomach is still there. My average price point right now is ~$3-350 for a sport coat, $8-900 for a suit, non-iron shirts at $40-45.
Can I get something a bit nicer than what I have for the same price? Should I try to get a full wardrobe, go simple with a few shirts, or just enjoy my time and not worry about it?
