Working out my Butt - Page 2

Every once in awhile I drop by to this part of the SF neighborhood and the conversations seem to always revolve around crotch and ass

sprinting is how I keep my backside large and firm... though possibly too large.

I do a variation on the basic lunge that really works that area well.

Step with one leg out as far as you can like a regular lunge. Drop your butt and come back up keeping your leg extended out in front of you. Do about 10 reps (drop your butt and come back up = 1 rep) for each leg then switch to the other leg. The main thing to concentrate on is just lowering your butt. If you lean forward like you would on a normal lunge you don't get the same effect.

It is part of a core worker my old trainer got me doing. You have to maintain your balance while your front leg is extended so far out in front. Your front knee stays well behind the toes of the foot on that same leg that you extended forward (if you're doing it right) that you should not have any problems with your knees.

Wearing a velvet blazer will certainly provide you the opportunity to work your butt. Meatiness may vary.

But... a better question would be, what kind of butt do women like and how do we get it?

If we're doing squats and deadlifts all the time, will this make the butt bulge out? To me that sounds like it would look womanly, but I'm not sure. I've played hockey for a long time and I "think" my butt is in shape, though it sticks out a bit, I just don't know what they like (if they like anything at all). Man, writing this stuff makes me cringe

I know I shouldn't be contributing to a resurrected-after-eight-months thread, but I have to address this:

No. No, no, no, no, no! Squats are *not* "hard on the knees" if done with properly. The problem is, so many guys (especially the under-30 set) think "more is better," in terms of weight. So, they load on the 45s and their form goes to shit, but they think they *are* the shit because, wow, look at all the plates on my bar! Woo hoo. This is when squats become dangerous, this is when knee and back injuries happen. If you don't know how to do squats, you *need* to have an experienced personal trainer teach you how do do them properly. A buddy who's "been lifting for a long time" probably isn't good enough; I see *lots* of big, ripped mofos at my gym who have absolutely horrendous form. Looking at a "how to" blurb on a bodybuilding site isn't good enough either (it's hard to critique your own movements; a third party can do it best). That said, squats are among the "big compounds" (along with deadlifts, pullups, dips, bench presses, and so forth) which are the best resistance/weight training exercises a person can do, but you must must must must learn how to do them correctly, or risk injury. Anyway, yeah, go ask an exercise physiologist or kinesiologist; a properly-executed squat puts minimal strain on the knees.

Or better yet, ask ten and grade them all based on their musculature. Then compare answers.

If I had my body language book I would be able to tell you, but I don't. Something tight and muscular because it means we're able to thrust without putting all our weight on them.

somehow i knew this all along, but when you said tight and muscular it helped. i'll be doing squats with light weight instead of the heavy i've been using

Many women like a small butt. There have been surveys Presumably, "small" doesn't mean "flat."

Lots of sex in the good 'ol missionary position. (More fun and easier on the knees)
