Velvet jacket makes everything fuzzy

I have a velvet gold jacket that I love, except it makes EVERYTHING fuzzy. I tried wearing silkier pants, but it's still sticking to it.

How can I get fix this (besides wearing different fabrics under it)? Will washing help?

OP, just get a lint roller, you'll be fine. Rock yer velvet, gold or otherwise.
