Not that anyone should be mimicking any outfit I post (especially shirts, apparently), but I have posted 2 navy blazer pictures in the "good taste" thread in the past week. I wouldn't use the WAYWRN threads as an example of what you should be doing.

I don't know what tumblrs is but I understand what you are getting at. But what is "stuff"? The reason I came to SF and stuck around is because I really didn't care for most of the style blogs and men's magazine type stuff out there. Just didn't speak to me. Classic Menswear on SF does. Any recommendations on what to read in order to fill the gap in my knowledge? Anyone else can recommend things to read as well.

That's because you're German. :) (I just checked it on your profile.)

This kind of garment just doesn't have a history in Europe outside the navy. Even in Britain it's very specific to sailing or yachting... So I guess it can be considered an Americana.

I don't think the brass buttons are wrong, they just aren't my personal style. If I saw someone wearing a jacket with them, I wouldn't think anything of it.

Aye aye Cap'n! wink.gif No, no, just teasing, you profile stalker you! biggrin.gif
Actually, I'm not German, at least, not yet anyway. And it's not that I think no one can rock the brass buttons, or even that most people can't or shouldn't. I just don't think it's my style. I mean, the expression "the top brass" exists for a reason, after all. Brass does have a military connotation associated with it. Although, in my book, Lee Morgan, Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong are the real Top Brass. smile.gif
