Buday Shoes - Hungarian Shoemaker - Page 2

I can't tell you how badly I have been tempted by those whiskey boots. Just gorgeous.

The brown shell plain toe derbies at Panta look like something else as well.

I'm also intrigued by Buday's brown and black shell color scheme. Looks good and I hadn't thought about it before. Maybe for a future pair. Why have shoes that are just one color, right?

How you finding them, Frank? Did you have to size down?

Finding them really comfortable so far. Just beginning to break them in of course. Fit is snug, but really does feel as if it will work for me. They are a 10.5UK as a US 11, and I'd say the fit is similar to Vass 45 for me. so probably about right on size, depending on how all those things translate... puzzled.gif Ha ha.

Did you size down for yours?

I went for a UK8 against my 42.5 Vass P2. They're still too big. They're on the 39 last tho which I believe is wide. I prolly need 28 last.

Did you order yours directly from Buday or is there a UK stockist?

Ed at Panta advised me to go with the wider last in this style, which I believe you are correct is the 39.

As one shoemaker has said to me "You have quite wide feet." Though I'm sure they aren't really that wide compared to some. Widish for Hungarian dress shoes I guess...

Overall, I feel pretty lucky that these seem to fit so well, with credit due to Ed for his expert opinion.

too big as in even with an insert they don't fit? Have you worn them outside? You can always return them and we can get you a 7.5.

Glad you like them and that they are working out for you. I liked the buffalo alot, ordered these in a buffalo and dark brown suede combo to see how they look.

I got mine from Ed too and after much tooing and froing I decided on a UK9 which was huge. (Whisky shell; absolutely stunning!) So I returned that and exchanged for the tobacco in 8. They fit pretty well but fully close so I'll put pads in them and that should sort them. Maybe my feet have shrunk; the last 3 pairs of shoes I've bought online have been too big, though 2 of those are just width issues.
No hurry for these as its hot and humid here just now and these beasts are HEAVY!

@edmorel I haven't padded them yet or wore them as I don't want them to crease weird. They should be OK. Thanks a lot for the exchange offer but I'll try to avoid a repeat of the 125 bucks return shipping!!
Those boots are monsters; in a good way!

My goodness. Those look as if they will get you ready for a serious eastern European winter. Some tough looking boots!

The buffalo really is a cool variation on grained leather.

And since we're talking about Buday sizing. Ed: Do you think the tobacco cordovan Buday derbies in 11UK would be too big for me considering the '39s I have? Probably shouldn't/won't pull the trigger on a second pair before I really get out and about in this first set. But that's one nice looking pair of shell derbies to have sitting a few days shipping away from me...
