Still doing research on the best place to go.. wether its bespoke.. or getting alterations (in case I go OTR.... but once again, still trying to do research on the "best" suit for my budget)
I got a Smith Woollens Excel 120s (I think) for $1,800 last year when they were in Houston day before Thanksgiving 2011. A couple months (day before Thanksgiving 2012) back I got a fresco blazer and crispaire pants for about $1,400 I believe.

Looks pretty cool. I've had a good experience with WW Chan so far and when I am home in Houston for Thanksgiving I go for a fitting with Chan, too. Nick Lopez is probably far more convenient and, given the post date, probably a good bit more expensive than it is listed there ($1,800).
Nick Lopez in Houston looks like he has done good work, and has a good rep in town. VintageGent had a suit or two made by him, I think he ended up preferring Chan.
This is correct. Chan is my go-to now, but last year I did get a pair of dinner trousers from Nick.
