Tailoring: A question on vents and proper width

Hello,

After an alteration to my off the rack blazer, my vents now seem too close together. Can a tailor make this sort of alteration, taking in the waist of a jacket, without altering the look of the vents, making the flap appear to be to narrow?

Thanks

If I understand you correctly the jacket was taken in on the side seams and now the back of the jacket looks like this II. The back panel is straight and narrow from the waist down.

You would prefer the back be flared like so / \ over your hips. If the cloth hasn't been cut out this can be done just ask your tailor.

There is no rule about this, just preference.
