Rant on some fashion trends of today......or do I just not understand them?

Everyday I see people donning one of these trends and I just do not understand it, I do not know why they think it looks good or how it all started. If you know, please enlighten me. For now, here are the current worst 5 in my opinion-

5. Top button on shirt buttoned but without a tie
I see many people do this all the time. Personally, I think it looks a bit weird with the top button done, but without a tie. It just doesn't look right to me.

4. Fluorescent Nike Trainers/Sneakers
Fluorescent trainers do not look good to start off with, but it's not that which annoys me. What annoys me are the geniuses who wear one fluorescent yellow trainer/sneaker on one foot and one fluorescent orange trainer/sneaker on the other foot. It looks ridiculous!! And he would have had to buy 2 pairs of trainers to be able to get that look!! How did this start?!?!

3. Skinny Fit Jeans/Trousers
On women, these look good. But on guys, no matter how skinny they are, it hardly ever looks good (I am talking about the skin tight variety). I agree that the regular cut in some brands may be a bit too loose and a "slim fit" pair will solve this issue easily. No need to go for tights (which is what they can look like from afar).

2. Ridiculously Short Suit Jackets
Firstly, when I say "short" I mean really short. I do not mind the modern cut suit jackets where they show an inch or so of the backside.....those I can live with. But when I see people in suits (not casual suits as they look like they have been working in the office for the day) where the jacket does not even cover any of the backside, it just make me annoyed for some reason!

1. Glasses with No Lenses
This gets me worked up the most. Admittedly, this fashion trend has started to die down but I still get annoyed when I see them. Glasses have a function.....to help the wearer see better, to protect the eyes from strong sunlight, dust, etc. When you remove the lenses, the glasses do not do anything. So why do people wear these?!?! They look absolutely ridiculous!! It's like wearing a dress shirt with no buttons for work.....it's useless (unless if you are a stripper)!! On the whole, I would say this trend is probably 80:20 to females. It's bad enough seeing a female wear it, but it's on a whole other level when you see a guy wear these. How can you be taken seriously wearing these!?!?! Who started this trend?? I'm getting quite worked up just typing this so I'm going to stop on this point.......for now.

Rant over.

Feel free to add other fashion trends which you cannot stand, or if you know why the trends I mentioned above are so popular, let me know and I may even see them in a different light.

never have seen that. where / who does this?

I can't tell if this is serious or not but it seems everyone these days. Most commonly found among hipsters, tumblr users, and "One D" fans. However, it is now making it's way into the world of professional sports.

A former colleague of mine always wore spectacle frames without lenses. He told me it's because when he was in college, people who wore glasses didn't get hit or bullied.

It probably depends on where you are. I never noticed myself in the United Kingdom. Yet it's a very common sight where I am now, glasses no lenses. Usually it's students, or people in their late teens and 20s, Particularly those that tend to follow Korean trends. It probably started in Korea or Japan most likely.

Most people who wear glasses without lenses do it because they want to wear glasses without prescription. Often, those glasses are cheap because since you are really wearing it as a fashion statement, you wouldn't blow $400 on a pair of frames as you would with sunglasses. The lenses on those cheap frames are of really poor quality and very reflective when taking photos. Even worse, the crappy quality of the lenses tend to tire your eyes out after wearing them for awhile and extended use will even worsen your eyesight (ironic, as some of those people didn't need glasses in the first place...) so most people who wear them for fashion statement take the lenses off for those reasons.

But I disagree with hairlow that glasses are just for function. Glasses with different designs, colours and patterns can serve as an accessory to your style and outfit, just like any other accessory we wear. I mean we could argue that necklaces, rings and bracelets are equally as useless as glasses without frames.

This won't be popular here, but I hate cuffed denim. Can't explain why, but it annoys me. Maybe Urkel ruined it for me years ago.

how about people trying to look like a logger but never cut wood before in their life.

I have seen a fashion blog of how you can be fashionable even if you are a farmer/construction worker/hiking. I mean if you are sweating, and covered in ****, fashion would be the last thing in my mind.

you're not alone. cuffed denim annoys the **** out of me too, especially when it's some hipster wearing his Alden Indy boots. how unoriginal can you be?

I have tried this in the past and failed to pull it off, but I think it does work for some. Maybe having an artistic temperament helps:
