Knife/Multi-tool appreciation thread

So I found this monstrosity marvel while doing some early Christmas Shopping.
87 tools. 7.2lbs of pure utility. I think I need a bigger pocket.

I retired the Kershaw and bought one of these a few months back. It has been a great EDC knife. It's very, very light and slim and is sharp as hell.

I thought this was a joke before I hit your link. The "knife" is $1,310.44 !!!!!!!! Is it for real and who would buy this? I really don't know if it's a joke or not. Also, I have a $29.99 pocket knife which is about 2 & 1/2" long and nothing special. But I have carried it for about 15 years and last week I lost it. It bothered more than losing cash or expensive jewelry which is worth many, many times as much. I guess it was the sense of losing something I was so used to. It made no rational sense. Has anybody ever had something like that happen?

I don't think it's a joke; it seems like the type of thing that a knife store might use as a display piece... Maybe it's the perfect gift for "the person who has everything"?

And, I know what you mean about the loss of a knife... I dropped my all-stainless, half-serrated, fold-out Buck in the woods a few years ago, long after it had been discontinued. I've never seen the same knife for sale again.

It's a real thing, I've seen it in person in Cabela's. But it's a gag gift, and also completely unusable.

Unusable? Nah... I'm pretty sure the knife grants the power to wield it to whoever buys the thing--- Kind of like Thor's hammer, but with 87 tools and 141 functions.

I have. I'm kind of a sloucher when I sit in chairs at conference tables. A couple of times that has led to my pocketknife falling out of my slacks onto the floor. Usually I catch it, but a couple of times I have not. So far, fortunately, my knife has always found its way back to me. But now, mainly because of this, I always clip my knife to the little inner pocket in the lining of my pants pockets. That helps to keep it from falling out.

When I was younger, though, I lost a knife I'd had for quite a while. I was pretty bummed out, all out of proportion to the actual monetary cost of the knife.

Ken Onion Leek had a slick design and opening was great, but overall too delicate. This is my knife, Buck 112:

Had 3 chain links on top, but the first one broke, oh well.

Been carrying a Case Mini Copperlock in blue that my future father in law gave me, but alas, fell out of my pocket at some point and it's gone.

I wanted to order a Buck 55, but, having just lost a 50 dollar Case, I opted for a 10 dollar Opinel No6 instead.

Follow up....the Opinel is the best damn knife I've ever owned.

I used my Lansky rod/stone system to put a 17 degree angle, polished it up with a sapphire stone and removed the burr with a few light strokes on my honing steel. OH MY GOD, never had a knife as sharp as this.

I have a cheap 6" strop and some green honing compound on order from Amazon just to see how much scarier I can get this knife.

Also, added a vinegar and mustard patina to it. Didn't achieve the Damascus patterns I was attempting, but it still looks pretty sweet.

I love the grind, love the thinness of the blade, love how stupid easy it is to sharpen. Saw a video on Youtube of a French guy stropping the blade on the palm of his hand and got it shaving sharp just by doing that. Not as impressive as the redneck dude though who stropped it on a piece of newspaper and was able to get it to slice a piece of toilet paper. Fun stuff.

This has the making of a great thread. Here are my EDC's. The Hawksbill is what is on my belt when I am not in the office. The other is my "suit knife"
