Kamakura Shirts - Madison Ave Store - Page 32

I've been emailing Kamakura customer service trying to determine what they have in my size and now I'm thoroughly confused.

If the site lists a shirt as having a collar size of 16 is it really a 16 1/3 that shrinks down to a 16 during washing or is it a 16 that shrinks down to a 15 2/3? I understood it to mean the former but now I'm thinking that they're telling me the latter.

I'm a thin 6'2", I wear a size 31 or 32 waist size pant, 38 size jacket and shirts generally at 15.5 - 34/35. I find that some shirt collars end up being slightly snug and arm length has never been too long, so slightly longer would be OK. Therefor a shirt that ends up at 15 3/4 -35 1/2 would, probably work out well...if that's in fact the size after shrinkage. Arg!

Shrinks to marked size. So a size 16 is a 16 1/3 that shrinks to 16.

Interesting. They are telling me to buy a size 16 collar if I normally wear a 15.5...

That is likely due to sizing issues and not the shrinkage question you raised previously.

I can tell you the 15" collar on my Kamakura shirts are far more snug then the 15" collar on my BB.

Thanks. I think I'll order a NY Slim tonight in a 16 as well as a NY Medium Chambray. Wish me luck!

I can second the above. My usual neck size is 14.5 and I went with 15. The shirt fits me very nicely

Raided the Madison ave store and wiped out the entire Tokyo slim 16.5 34 length sleeve column. Love the fit and construction.

Here's an interesting video about Kamakura Shirts, with some details about their construction:

Can someone assist me in finding my proper size?  I wish to purchase a Tokyo slim fit however have not yet received a response on sizing from an email I sent.

I normally wear a 15 1/2  collar and 32 /33 sleeve length. However, that collar size is a bit snug for me.  Anyhow, is the Tokyo slim fit 15 3/4 33 what I should be purchasing?   I am sure you folks here a much more knowledgable than I am on this.  Thanks in advance.

If anyone knows if the measurements are accurate would be appreciated.

Hey there,  I tried on the linen shirts today.  I wear a 15 1/3 neck,  34 1/2 sleeve in the NY fit...The small was tight and the medium was perfect.  I am not sure what sizes you are (I don't understand the numbers you posted), but if you're a 16 neck in the 41 chest shirt (I see in my 15 1/3 collar the number 39- 88...?) a large might be great as a linen shirt should probably be somewhat loose.

hope that helps.

Thanks for that I might try a large. The 41/16 I was talking about is 41cm/16 inch neck, sorry I forget I'm talking to a predominantly US audience occasionally. Thanks for your help.
