G & G and EG shoes on sale at Edwards of Manchester - Page 30

I'm sorry to hear that Frank.

I am both a provider of services as well as a consumer of services and I wouldn't survive very long in business if I took that approach/attitude and would probably be sleeping under a bridge if I did.

I know E of M, I also know EG in Northampton. I have no desire or compulsion to defend or laud either. I can suggest though that if a company takes a stance as you have described then they are burning up repeat business.

'Once bitten, twice shy" is a well worn phrase but would seem most apposite here.

From all the stories i hear i think EG think the saying is " The customer is always wrong and should be forever thankfull that we alow him to buy our shoes" smile.gif

I've bought from EG directly - both RTW and MTO - and haven't had any problems. Just as good as service as when I've bought MTO or RTW EGs from Leffot.

Never had a problem with EG, directly, either. I actually have been able to order from their factory too.

I've now been waiting a year for a pair of Inverness in dark oak. Mark offered a refund a few weeks ago, but I told him that I'd try waiting a little longer, since I really would like to get the shoes. I emailed EG directly recently to plead my case. I haven't heard back. Does anyone have an email address for EG other than the general one on the website?

I don't, but if anyone here hasn't yet received their EGs ... I'd recommend asking for a refund.

A few months ago, after reading Frank the Sheep's comment about EG and their relationship with EoM, I contacted someone I know at EG for more information. That person talked to Hilary directly, and confirmed that, indeed, there was only a small batch of MTO shoes left on order. I was told that after this batch was finished, they would no longer make shoes for EoM.

I was concerned, because Mark and I had talked about me possibly placing another order immediately after this one was fulfilled. I told Mark about what EG had told me, and he acted incredulous. He said he didn't know what they were talking about, and that he would look into it. I never heard back from him about the matter.

A couple of weeks later, after having not received my shoes, I contacted the person I knew at EG again and asked if he could check for me personally if my specific shoes - along with a friend's - were in that remaining docket, and if they're going to be made. Upon checking, EG confirmed that my friend's shoes were in this last batch, but there was no record of mine.

Now being really concerned, I contacted Mark and asked him what was going on - EG has now told me they were no longer going to make for EoM, and that there was only a small batch of shoes left, and that my shoes were not in that docket. I didn't hear back. I emailed again a week later, and still didn't hear back. I called and left a message. Finally, a couple of weeks after my initial email, Mark emailed me to say that they messed up and hadn't submitted my order to EG or G&G. He said he could offer me a refund, or proceed with the order, but that it would take another six months till delivery.

I still wanted my shoes, so I contacted EG and asked if an exception could be made. I explained that this store somehow forgot to submit my order, and I've already been waiting for them for almost a year. I said I would be happy to wait another year if it meant it could be confirmed - by them - that they would be made and delivered.

I was recommended by EG to just take a refund, which I took to be an indication that they really would not make anything more for EoM.

My friend received his shoes. I assume his was in the last batch. I don't know if that is an indication that the "final batch" I was told of has been 100% completed. My impression was that there were not that many shoes left in that last batch to begin with.

I received my refund, which included all the international transaction fees I paid. Mark said he would "look into this rumor that EG was no longer making for them." I told him my concerns with the seeming lack of transparency and mixed messages I was getting from both companies. I said forthrightly that it feels like EoM wasn't being totally honest about this situation, especially since EG kept insisting to me that they would no longer make for this store. Mark never sent me an email answering my concerns.

EG assured me that this must be some misunderstanding, and that EoM is an old and respected company. They said that whatever the case may be, they didn't think EoM would run off with my money. But with my credit card confirming that they couldn't give me protections on a ~8-9 month order, and the order totaling somewhere around $4,500, I didn't feel comfortable just waiting around hoping that they'd magically appear.

I don't know what the truth is. Perhaps EoM has a relationship, and EG has to lie and say they don't for some reason. I find that hard to believe, but who knows. Or, maybe EoM is trying to find another way to complete the orders they owe. Either way, I've dealt with EG before - for both RTW and MTO - and have gone through them directly and through their authorized suppliers. I've never had a problem and they've always been honest, clear in communication, and timely in delivery.

Except for this one time I went through EoM.

Wow, what a situation.

I wonder how their relationship with GG is, so that we can close the book on that avenue of discounted GGs.

Maybe the discount is part of the issue with both EG and GG with EoM. Orders might be extremely low priority...
The phrase "low priority" would have to be very extreme in order to accommodate "we're not making for them anymore."

The bottom line is that if you ordered EG's from EoM...get a refund now.   EoM has been too indirect, shady and non responsive to my liking.  Even with the discount, this is a lot to pay for shoes...and bottom barrel service is unacceptable.

I'll avoid EG through EoM, but will continue to order C&Js and G&G from them.

Got my shoes in a reasonable amount of time at a reasonable price.

What a situation!

i ordered a EG Chelsea, Chestnut in UK 12 at the last sale and i havened received it yet.
i heard that there will be a long delay and i had some mail contact with Mark, last time at the end of January and he always told me that EG has his own pace of work and the best thing to do is to hold on.
Now after reading your post i am a little confused and dont know what to do. Waiting at something never been happened make no scene on the other side i will not believe that Mark wrote me wrong things.

That is a messy situation.

What would you do in this situation?
I would ask for a refund, and if you still want the boots, I would just order through another store. You're only saving 20% through EoM anyway.

To be honest, it's a little difficult to know what is actually going on, but my sense (from all the information posted on this so far) is that the blame probably largely lies with EoM rather than EG (i.e. it seems EoM have taken orders without being transparent regarding delivery times).

If you are not in a huge rush for the shoes i would continue to wait and insist EoM provide them to you - they have taken your money and are bound to fulful the order. If they cannot get them directly from the EG factory within a reasonable time (i.e. because EG are no longer supplying them) then they should buy them themselves from EG as a private customer and give them to you. Quite how they get the shoes is their problem, but they should follow-through on their obligation to provide them to you (particualrly given how long you have waited).

I don't think it's acceptable to simply cancel the order and give you a refund - it provides you with no compensation for the time and effort of yours they have wasted.

Now, if the problem has arisen because EG themselves haven't been transparent with EoM regarding delivery times, then i obviously have a little more sympathy for the situation EoM are in.

I don't think it's that hard to understand. Both me and dieworkwear have spoken personally with EG and got the same answer. I talked with Hilary Freeman that is the owner and ceo and as i said before, she was very clear when she said "we don't do business with EoM anymore".

I was very lucky to get the boots i ordered but i think people are fooling themselves if they still not think that EoM is out as a EG dealer. You need to ask yourself if you believe this info is wrong because you want your shoes so much or because you think the owner of EG lies openly at a trunk show?

I feel for everyone that are in this situation because i was in the same until a month ago and i hope EoM will honour their sales but i honestly don't think that's going to happen.

I think everyone believes and understands EG are not supplying EoM anymore (other than the small amount of orders they have left which they are fulfilling as referred to a few posts above).

For me the issue is to what extent EoM knew this when they were taking on new orders (and to what extent they knew delivery times would be far beyond what customers expected when placing those orders).

Either way, if i had placed an order with EoM i would expect them to fulfil it (even if that meant ordering from EG as a private customer and then supplying it to me). To cancel an order after receiving payment and months and months of waiting simply wouldn't be an acceptable resolution for me.
