Glued on leather sole shoes

Are glued on leather sole shoes resole-able or better than rubber sole shoes? Thanks

Depends on whether the rubber soles in question are also glued on.

Glued leather soles are inherently no better or more resolable than glued rubber soles. In both cases, resoling will be difficult (and probably not worth the expense).

Re-soleable
- It depends. Pretty much any shoe CAN be resoled, but as to whether or not it's a good idea...
- If I bought a glued pair of shoes and wanted them to last, I would apply a vibram sole protector and replace the heel as necessary. Vibram is not a deal-breaker for me though, and I don't think it takes much away from the feel. TOPY however feels more rubber sole to me, so watch out for what your cobbler uses.
- With both of those points, you may not ever get to re-sole the shoe. Many glued shoes have other problems which may arise long before re-soling. Ferrragamo Studio for example has simply AWFUL construction, and the glue on the sole is one one of many deficiencies.

Stitched rubber sole vs. glued leather
- This is not a great comparison; it depends on which you hate more. Many, if not most, rubber shoes you will find in a dept store are probably glued too. Many top brands are stitching rubber soles, but it's not as common for these to pop up in standard shoe racks (depends on where you shop really, and the brand).

If I were advising you on saving money and getting quality (which I think is where you question is coming from), I might suggest starting with an Allen Edmonds or something comparable at that price range. Also, if you are OK with 2nd hand shoes, you should never be buying glued shoes. You will find countless EBAY posts and auction sales here which have goodyear and blake shoes for next to nothing. I have several pairs of shoes which retailed at over 1000.00 and were bought for under 100.00. PM me if you need some examples, or some advice on what brands are easier to obtain at low prices.
