BA business class - best full flat pod seating beds
BA world traveller plus (premium econony) is also very good
although connecting through heathrow is a royal pain
hopefully the new terminal 5 will be much better than the dark windowless shopping mall like look dump that heathrow is now - although i give it bonus points for decent shopping selections

easyjet is actually pretty good for an inexpensive european airline
airbus jets, very clean interiors, nice light orange and grey interiors, punctual

air baboo out of switzerland is a nice small joy

northwest is commonly called northworst in the detroit hub
(although the new nwa detroit terminal is fantastic)
it doesn't necessarily deserve that moniker as it's decent, though average - nothing horribly bad but nothing to praise either

anyone fly etihad?
UAE's national carrier
allegedly as good as emirates but i've flown neither yet

Agreed, Heathrow is a nightmare. T5 looks promising, I was inside not too long ago and it's still a construction nightmare but it looks good. Very airy looking.

Small correction, Emirates is UAE's national carrier since they are larger
But I have heard Etihad service is great with many of the same amenities as Emirates but not as many destinations.
Emirates has also just announced Dubai-Venice on an A330, that will certainly be nice. I want to visit both places if I get married and do a round-the-world trip.

that's good news about t5 at heathrow
it'll make all the connections better given one won't have to change terminals if you're still connecting on a BA flight


on etihad and emirates, this is confusing
etihad bills itself as the national airline of the UAE
(actually just now checked their website and that's what they say - national airline of the UAE by royal decree in 2003 by the crown prince - airline based in abu dhabi - and i've just learned that etihad means "united")

however, both are owned by the gov't of the UAE so i don't understand the difference other than emirates appears based out of dubai

so i checked the emirates website and it bills itself as the international airline of the UAE

but both etihad and emirates fly international routes
i guess it's a way to try to distinguish two national carriers
it really doesn't matter i suppose
it's all marketing

Yea, idk Hermes. I've never worked with either airline. We usually go with the airline with the most routes though, I am pretty sure Emirates tops Etihad. It doesn't really matter though

I've never so much studied how the middle eastern governments work, mostly because each are so different from the others.
About a month or two ago (His Highness the) Amiri of Qatar came through Dulles and a few of us chatted with him while his airplane was prepared, he says that he has seen "some things in America I couldn't believe", yet if you go to Egypt you can find adult clubs in Cairo.
This confuses me greatly

BA is on my list of airlines to avoid. That's because almost all my bad experiences have been down to them, mostly due to their predilection for 'industrial action' and also for the wrong kind of snow/rain/fog/air.

So far, Jeju Air. All around though, i've found that just about any foreign airline is waaaay better than their US counterparts. You can always tell you're going back to the US when the flight attendants are old, ugly, angry, and don't attend.

British weather really can work hell for the airports, expecially when you have squalls moving through. It can be a mess.

As for Jeju Air, I've never heard of them. Some Googling is in order, I would like to see what they are all about

Jeju Air is the airline in Korea that flies (I think exclusively) from Korea to Jeju. Jeju is to Korea as Hawaii is to the US. My experience with Korean air has been excellent as well, but they're just all-in-all very sweet at Jeju Air.

Give me your flight number and date of travel and I'll see how empty first/business class is. If it's empty you may be moved there anyway.
