Cigars - what's in your humidor? - Page 3

That's quite a collection. How long would that lot of cigars last you?

I have a question for cigar aficionados:

1. Is it easy to find someone who would enjoy sitting down for a cigar these days?

it's not hard at all, just go to your local tobacconist...chances are (if they're a good store) they'll have a room for smoking where other regulars gather, smoke, shoot the breeze, watch football...there was a store like that where I went to college, it was a fun place to be around. There's similar stores like that here in Hong Kong, but I don't enjoy the company so I just bring some stuff to read and smoke by myself.

There are plenty of cigar bars in Tokyo too.

when I was in Tokyo back in early January, I stayed at the Oakwood apartments in Roppongi (in the space that used to be The Mansion), and there was a cigar bar right next door...i forget the name of it, but the sign above the door was yellow I believe. Went in there one night and at first they didn't seem too friendly, maybe they thought I was a bit young to be a cigar smoker and was just messing around. I ordered a Monte 2 and it wasn't that impressive, i figured perhaps it was from a weaker batch. Decided to give 'em another shot and got a VR Famoso to go smoke at a club, it was much much better. I think this cigar bar has decent prices for a non-tobacconist, for people travelling to Tokyo i think its worth checking out. Their house whiskey wasn't half bad either (but not really that cheap at 3000 yen a glass).

Currently its mostly Monte 4 in my humidor at the moment. I just recieved a box of Padron 1926 which I enjoy, they always seem creamy. I also have a box of 2006 limited edition Partagas which are aging nicely. There are other singles like RP's, CAO and others.

I plan on taking a trip to Cuba again soon to soak up the sun and restock buth not to sure what I might get this time...

I smoke about 2 cigars a month with a couple of friends. I like the taste and the subtle nicotine buzz but mostly I like the communal aspect of it. A good cocktail and a cigar gives three friends a good excuse to sit outside and talk about shit. In fact the only thing I don't like about it is the lingering taste the next day, so if anyone has any advice on that I'd love to hear it (brushing my teeth doesn't get it all out). And I tend to avoid them when I'll be interacting with women, even I don't like the smell on someone else if I haven't been smoking. I smoke a lot of Rocky Patels but I'm under the impression it's not a favored label among serious afficianados.

I've just never found the RP's to be as nice at the Padron Anni series. Anything from that little island south of Miami always seems better then either IMO.

A few Flor Dominicanas, an Anejo, a box of Ashton Heritage Puro Sol, a couple Zinos and a Cabaiguan.

One lonely Montecristo #3

My humidor's been on the fritz lately so I haven't been able to smoke much, but as far as I can remember, I've got (among others) a few Padron anni., Partagas Black, Ashton VSG, an Egg, various Camachos, a few Cusanos, and a Camacho Liberty (had two, saving the last one for a special occasion). I'd love to add a few ISOM's to the mix...any time I get out of the states I go for a Monte #2 or a Siglo VI.

Aficianado, I like the lonely box of Partagas Serie P2 sitting in your humidor...thats one of the best cigars to come out of Cuba in recent years.
RyJ Maduro, I like your box of Sharks.
Regards.

my humidor started as a small 20 capacity desktop, then grew to a 100 stick, then eventually i said eff it and started a "coolidor". it houses a box of rocky patel fusions, box of cao brazilias, box of drew estate naturals, box of cao black vr's, a bunch of various ghurkas, rocky patels, CAOs, 5 vegas.

the special occasion ones are the padron 1926s and opus Xs.

+1. I'm poor so my smoke of choice is the Fuente 8-3-8.

I think that's half the fun of the hobby. I've moved from a small travel humidor to a small wooden desktop model to a 100 stick glass top version (with inlayed designs). If I get one of the jobs I've been interviewing for this week, I'd love to get a coolidor going...which of course means I'd have to stock it with several boxes of my favorites!
