Yet Another Briefcase Thread (ca. $500)

I'm looking for input as I try to choose a new briefcase/satchel for around $500.  I'm looking at the following choices, primarily from handmade, small U.S. makers.   (Ignore the colors - I'll finalize the color once I've chosen the style.)

(I've looked into the Saddleback Thin Briefcase, but they seem kind of rugged for taking to work downtown - with all the D-rings and rivets.)

I'd appreciate input or opinions from anyone, particular people who have bought bags from one of these brands.

1) Joseph P. Marcellino - Darwin 1136 -  16x12x3 - $350

2) Sawyer Cabinet Company - No. 2 Briefcase - 16x12x5 - $600

3) McKinley American LeatherCrafters - Briefcase Portfolio - 16x12x4.5 - $335

4) Tanner's Alley - Satchel - 16x12x5 - $325

As you can see, they're kind of all of the same type, so while I'm looking for aesthetic opinions, I'm looking more particularly for anyone's experience with these companies/bags.  Because they're mostly small, make-to-order companies, I'm also interested in anyone's experience with customization.  Thanks.

Really? Nothing?

I've seen threads here where people had gotten bags from these makers.  No followup or thoughts?

I have no experience with the makers but I will say that 1, 3 and 4 look plastic. Maybe it is the pictures?

Thanks for the reply!

Perhaps it is the pictures?  All of them claim to be English bridle leather.  Hence my desire for any information from those with experience with the makers.

I guess I'll just contact one or two and go from there.

From ebay. Every once in awhile I search vintage briefcase. There are some interesting finds.
