Style Forum Members,
First and foremost, I want to thank you for all the wonderful advice that has been offered within these forums. While I have perused the forums, I wanted to post a thread to get some opinions that are directly related to my situation.
Before I ask my questions -- though I am sure the thread title may give them away -- I wanted to give a little bit of background in order to aid in the forming of your opinions. I am going to be graduating from undergrad in December, 2013, and I will be attending multiple career fairs (and hopefully interviews) over the next couple of months and I am in need of a suit. The issue that I have is that I thought the first couple career fairs were going to be at the end of March/beginning of April, but it turns out the first two are in the middle of February. I am unable to afford a suit greater than $500 right now, and while I was going to have one made-to-measure from Black Lapel, or Indochino (based on recommendations from friends and previous co-workers) I am not confident that either would be here in time for the first career fair (one that I have already committed on attending through my school) so I am left with purchasing one from a local retailer.
This leads into my primary question. I understand a "cheap" suit that fits well is better than a more expensive suit that doesn't: Would it be prudent to purchase a cheaper suit, say Jos A Bank, and have it tailored, knowing that the quality may not be above par, but simply as a way of attending these career fairs and subsequent interviews, while allowing me to save and purchase additional suit(s) at a later date.
My second question is: Does anyone have a tailor recommendation for the Middle Tennessee area. I am smack dab in the middle of Nashville and Knoxville, so anywhere in between would be appreciated.
If anyone has any alternatives, or suggestions, please feel free. I am open to any ideas, though I would like/need to stay under $500, including tailoring if at all possible.
