Struggling with an Apparently Classic Question: Brown shoes with black pants

I didn't know it was a classic question and subject of fashion debates.  I joined this forum just to ask this question.  I have bought a pair of brown shoes for office wear.  I didn't know (don't hate me for this, I'm not a fashion expert) that I cannot match it with black pants.  Now I'm figuring out which pants I have can go with it.  Can gray be paired with it?  If not, I need advise from you fashion experts, what color can

go with these new shoes?
